Derivative definition, calculus, and derivatives for beginners — in this video, I explain what a derivative really means, by building up simple intuition. Starting from functions, all the way to tangents and limits. Instead of learning formulas, we'll see exactly how to formulate a derivative, and a beautiful example at the end.

The platform I used for the derivation walkthroughs in this video: https://vietaspace.com/notes

ALSO to address the letter “h” comments. I was brought up in York, Yorkshire in England and that’s how we say “h” here. I promise I’ll do queens English next time lmao

The best science and math teachers use real life examples to connect abstract numbers and concepts to real life. You are one of them. Thanks.

Omg…. I’ve been teaching / tutoring engineers in physics, engineering and many math courses for 18 years… always love seeing how OTHERS teach some of the same topics. And YOURS is eloquently BEAUTIFUL!! Simple and powerfully accurate . Love it

A perfect video in terms of clarity and speed. If anyone finds it too fast they can just pause and think. Really excellent work.

Watching this actually EXPLAINED what I did in Calculus in high school and at the University I graduated from. At the time, I just did it but had no idea why. Now, 30 years later, someone explains it. Obviously, I went to the wrong schools and I wish this had been explained then. Everything would have been so much easier, not only to understand but to do as well.

I would like to see whole series 🎉

Been out of school for half a century, always liked math. Although my own idioma is German your explanation is amazingly clear. Great job!

As an educator, I can categorically say that this is one of the best explanations I've seen; calculus has to be one of the hardest ideas to empart.

Nice...what this show is that the actual maths ain't difficult, being effectively adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing, it's the language thats confusing

I did derivatives at school 50 years ago and only ever thought of them as random rules I needed to know to pass a maths exam . Thank Yoy.

I love videos as well made as these and i have to say it's so cute at 11:43 the enjoyment you have for the small details in math. Hope you keep making quality content because a lot of videos even related to math nowadays are turning out to be either ai slop or just a copy of someone else's video without more insight or depth on what's going on

I knew right away this was going to be a banger of a video. Fast paced, no nonsense clear explanations, soothing yet informative voice. I feel like I understand the purpose of calculus now better than my electrical engineering major & math minor got me.

Awesome, I had mugged up the formulae back in university without understanding how its derived, thanks a lot for the video. please start the Maths course, which would help us in learning in structured manner. Please do start the course.
Thank you!
