"He felt skin curling black on that agonized hand, the flesh crisping and dropping away until only charred bones remained." Is what Paul was feeling during the Gom Jabbar

your reactions every time Oscar Isaac popped on screen - so real. just an absurdly good looking dude

Paul's mother wasn't the wife of the duke, she was his concubine. He felt that, politically, he had to keep those marriage options open to keep the other Houses from attacking him. If they thought they could marry into the Atraidies House, then that gave the Duke maneuvering room. You really should read the book. There's way more detail in it that no movie could hope to include. I bought my copy back in the 80's and read it probably every decade since. My absolute favorite book.

I cannot believe you guys flew all the way to Arrakis to film that intro. That is dedication! ❤

Wait, how did I get here? How do you only have 18,000 subscribers and why is the production value of your intro so high? I’m only one minute and 52 seconds in and I just subscribed.

“America runs on Duncan” was hysterical. 50 points to Gryffindor.

They don't use guns because they have shields, which make guns useless. They have lasers, but a laser hitting a shield creates a localized nuclear detonation, so they don't often use those either, unless they just don't care if an area becomes a city-sized hole in the ground. So, what's left? Swords. As you see in the movie, they have developed some shield-penetration projectile weapons, but they're relatively slow, requiring stealth or surprise to work.

You should definitely read the book. It will legit blow your mind. It is, in fact, the great granddaddy of modern sci-fi.

One random thing I like about the book, and I kinda wish they could have put in, Jessica didn't initially have Paul to have the One, (Her order can actually decide to get pregnant and determine the gender) Duke Leto wanted a son and Jessica loved him(though their relationship was arranged) so she decided to give him a son. Though, as Paul grew, she realized that maybe he could be. It kinda makes me sad that even he thinks he was only meant to be part of a plan.

The 10,000 year timeline is actually 10,000 years from the founding of the Spacing Guild, which takes place some 20,000 years in our future.

So it is waaaay in the future.

Bro what the fuck is going on here. High quality video with solid commentary? You guys are real quick on picking up themes and what's going on in the story. I'm subscribing, no doubt. I'd say keep subtitles on, especially when giving commentary and reacting you might speak over something important. Other than that my only complaint is that I have to wait for your reaction to part 2. Good job fellas.

1:13:07 At least you guys didn’t have to wait like two years for the next one. Like we’re all waiting for the third one now.

53:40 I think a lot of people forget that sand dunes move. If you stay in place and don’t move, you will be buried. They were in a tent & the tent got buried by the moving sands

It’s so validating to hear these straight (?) married men acknowledge how hot Oscar Isaac is

Dudes, I’ve watched about every reaction to Dune and find yours was the most enjoyable, ever. Thanks. Looking forward to your Part Two.

I love that y’all notice the weight on Paul’s shoulders, even with all his training and ambition. In the books he’s just fifteen when all this starts, and he has one the wildest character progressions I’ve ever read, if you read all the books 😆

@NinaG494 1 year ago

No way y’all went to real sand dunes to film the intro omg the dedication is insane, love being a subscriber here the vibes are top tier can’t wait to see ur dune journey

11:00 - Duke Leto Atreides is, quite literally, the best dude around at this time and for thousands of lightyears. This fact is the reason all this shit happens to him. He dared be decent in an indecent world and paid the price for inspiring loyalty because of it. And Oscar Isaac was a fantastic casting choice to bring the character to life.
