On the topic of the camera shifts missing stuff on the player turn, there IS an option for "never" on "dynamic camera moments", which I didn't even realize related to the issue I was having. Turning that to "never" seems to help a lot, it only shows the enemy in question you're firing at and doesn't move away in jarring fashion randomly. Super weird that the default camera controls fuck up so much, but hey, at least there's an option for it I guess. (Still doesn't account for the enemy turn/camera stuff there though)

This is my third favourite Gears of War game.  I have around 400 hours in it.

I didn't realise quitting on Act 2 was a thing - its exactly where I stopped.
Just felt the difficulty was being artificially inflated by adding timers or overwhelming numbers rather than challenge within the gameplay or level design

I loved this game and I desperately want DLC or a sequel, but many of your criticisms are valid. It's certainly not for everyone.

Wow it sad that this was so badly done as it looks like it could have been really cool.

As always this is an amazingly well done and in-depth review and I am glad that I get to just watch this vs having to play this game. Thank you for going through this pain for us bro we appreciate it! xD

I do like Sid’s VA is Adler from Black Ops Cold War. Such a badass dude, Kat’s dad is alright. I think this whole plot of going after a Locus commander sounds similar to Judgement…

I hope your next video is on a game that doesn't feel like a chore to play. You really showcased how many of the small decisions were downright baffling, and how all that ended up. Great stuff!

It’s too bad this game doesn’t have proper mod support.  I’m sure a Long War/Terror From The Void type overhaul could fix the game’s various issues.  It would also be nice if there was a map/level editor, multiplayer, and full story expansions.

Xcom is still the best one, despite million clones. Thats surprising even, you would think that everyone else can improve on formula, but they only make it worse.

Great stuff! I really enjoyed the video. Thanks for suffering through the latter half of the game to deliver it. 😂

I like seeing you go through tactics games.  I haven't found any I like better than xcom 2 war of the chosen yet.  I've tried a handful like mutant and mario rabbids, but I couldn't stick to them.  Persona 5 tactica is the only one I beat all the way through.  Probably more of my persona fan in me wanting to see more, but I did like the gameplay enough that it felt like it is being it's own thing

Playing gears for almost 14 years those weapon attachments are so cursed…

I didn't mind it, I thought it was fun. But, I'm still disappointed there's no multiplayer option. It's be cool to see a 1v1 online mode.

Drives me nuts with the Theron Guard having what felt like more than four AP at times

My biggest issue with the game is the lack of out of combat activities, Xcom had the whole Base Building, R&D/Engineering decisions and Buying Gear metagame which gives you breaks from constant fighting, Tactics has pretty much none of that, some paltry skill upgrades and opening loot boxes so you're just beaten down by constant encounters and return to base with pretty much 0 things to do, so you might aswell just hit the next mission.

Would loveeeee a Gears Tactics 2 😁

my cousin worked on this game, never played it and don’t even know what he did (I think level design now that I think of it) your video made me want to try it out for the first time

The worst thing about gears tactics for me were the main characters. The whole appeal of tactics games for me is creating my soldiers, watching them grow stronger, with the fear of them dying being ever present. I made a sniper named after Yong Yea and i absolutely loved him, but nooooo the game says i need to use mikayla SHES SO EFFIN GREAT. Once you reach the last act and constantly have to use the four main dudes i quit.

Loved the new XCOM games, love every Gears of War, couldnt make myself play more than a few missions of this game for whatever reason. At least another awesome DorkAxe video came out of it

Yeah, 29:25 happened to me as well. Rather than fire at me from the line of sight it had when it came up from the e-hole, it walked around to a point where it's weapon blast pushed my units back into a corpser mine, downing two of my team.
