Resident Evil The Darkside Chronicles is the 2nd light-gun on-rails shooter for the Wii with the Resident Evil license. Even though it's much better than its predecessor, Umbrella Chronicles, in many ways...it's also atrocious in a few key metrics that make it an overall bitter experience. I want to love the game so much, but I can't, mostly due to the shaky cam and slower pace.

Umbrella Chronicles is a light gun shooter. Darkside Chronicles is a light gun shooter where you have to dodge your little brother always jumping up to take the controller out of your hand

completely agree with your takes and understand where you're coming from -- my only personal caveat is that i'd say that the re2 chapter in darkside chronicles does a better job keeping leon, claire, sherry, annette, etc. basically everyone more in-character and true to intentions and tone of the characters from the original game than the writing for re2make

It's like the devs of Darkside heard the complaint that Umbrella was too short and thought "Oh, we'll just have them walk more often!". It's like you wish there was more sandwich to eat and they add more bread. That's not why we're here, buddy!

Kinda unrelated, but it's funny that Capcom recently announced Resident Evil 2: Arcade (formerly known as "Resident Evil 2 Dead Shot" during location tests last year), so Darkside Chronicles is technically and partially also getting the "Remake" reimagining treatment.

Not gonna lie, I must be one of the few people in the world that actually enjoys this game in spite of the camera. I love the cutscenes and the way the characters look and interact in this game. Darkside Leon was my favorite version of him appearance wise until Requiem tbh.

This is also the game you needed to play in order to know who the heck Krauser was back in RE 4.
I still wonder why this never came to other platforms like RE 1 remake did.

I've waited 15 years for Resident Evil: Operation Javier. But now that Rem4ke ruined Krauser's heel turn, I demand this as DLC in CV:R

I can't lie, I enjoyed the heck out of my time with this game. That being said I love watching videos, positive or not, on things I love so I'm glad to see this here. It's made very well too, so I hope you keep it going my man.

The only thing I needed to never want to touch this game was learning how they changed Alfred and Alexia's dynamic. Her awakening cutscene in the original always makes me teary eyed. Now it seems there are other issues as well I was not aware of so I look forward to watching this!

It is nice to have you go through this pain so I don't have to...thank you for that xD
Having this summed up in a nice and really funny way is a great way to experience this game lol

Honestly you breaking down the active vs passive time is nuts and you are nuts for doing it lol

It's such a pain when a good game is ruined by bad mechanics like this, yet again a reason I am glad i got to experience this game without having to PLAY it xD

With your talk of RE4 in this video I'd be curious honestly to see a more in-depth video with thoughts on it and the remake; maybe a compare/contrast? I'm currently replaying the remake and am really enjoying how they tried to flesh out some of the characters that didn't really get much time like Krauser
