My best advice is to do everything possible in chapter 1. All side quest, clear what you can clear from the maps. Do all the joining quests up to the point of joining. Then save and keep that save untouched. When you want to replay it, you just pick another faction. Chapter 1 is very similar, no matter what build you want to do.

14:42 Console shortcut for quick save/load is Left Bumper or "L1 + Start" (Save) and "L1 + Select" (Load)

Don’t talk to mud, needs to be the first tip

Starting from the bottom and being useless gives me Kingdom Come Deliverance vibes!

Mistake #1: watching guide videos for a game that's entire purpose is to have you figure things out for yourself

My biggest issue with games until this one is the worry of messing up and not being "optimal". So ive really been enjoying Gothic for being the game that it is. Mistakes are important for growth and lack of hand holding will help shed bad habits formed from modern gaming. Love your content man. Gothic is game of the year for me 💜

For torch backpacking, could view it as exploity depending on the person. Pull out your weapon while holding a torch and immediately attack before he can drop the torch or anything and you’ll backpack the torch.

Thanks to videos like these I can play game now! In old days there was not such guides for original Gothic, so I gave up on that game, not now though with remake!

In the old Gothic, monsters didn't respawn within the same chapter. That's why I usually take my sweet time and try to level as high as I can and do as much as I can in chapter one. In my current playthrough of Remake, I actually did notice quite a bunch of mobs actually respawning. What the mechanism behind that is, I don't know. Could be days spent or character levels reached. Not sure. Just so you know: Mobs do respawn in the same chapter in Remake.

Edit: Herbs, mushrooms and the like do respawn regularly.

I finally started the game and I LOVE it so much. It's definitely Gothic!

There is also a great starting sword in the cave behind the lake at the entrance to the new camp, gives 18 to damage

Great video! Thanks for creating it.

Mud got himself killed during an escort to another camp, so I was freed early on

It's a good, deep RPG game, not for everyone. What you have reached in this game, that you've earned. I like it ( but sometimes i was annoyed though... :) ). Nice vid!

For anyone achievement hunting, I recommend doing No time to die and insomnia Champion in separate runs. I also recommend a pure archer build for both because it seems like one of the easiest, especially starting out. Later in the game you'll be able to easily branch out since you'll have plenty of skill points anyway. Also, novice difficulty gives more experience if you're looking to get one of the hardest achievements in the game which is to learn every skill in the game.

One thing about the torch that i remember from the original is you needed to have TWO in the inventory, so you can click on the second one to put it out and move the one in hand back into the inventory over the spare one.
