I have fine high density hair and I can tell you that it maybe be “thick” but it is still see through. It’s annoying when you have gaps in your hair in the light and people constantly think it’s unhealthy. I do get compliments, but that doesn’t erase how fine hair is treated. I used to be ashamed of my hair because when it is blow dried or straightened it isn’t like really thick, but everyone is like oh you have nice hair. When it was literally thin to me. I used to crave for “thicker” hair so bad.

It took me a loooonngg time to realize i had fine hair. I think most of us just assume our hair is coarse and thick because it may be med-high density. I think when you can visually see the difference between a single strand of fine hair vs thick hair it's more obvious. When i close my eyes I can barely feel one of my strands between my thumb and forefinger (if i even feel it at all!) but my bfs hair I can feel the full length easily with eyes closed.

As someone with fine hair, I needed this. Thanks for talking about something so many people overlook.😊

The funny thing is hair being thick was a complaint for so long. Thick meant unmanageable amd hard to people and now thin or fine hair is a problem.

I love videos on fine hair❤, years ago I’d search videos of fine hair it was under “damaged hair or hair loss” this is refreshing.

As someone with high density hair and thick strands, I used to think that anyone that didn't have hair like mine wasn't taking care of their hair properly, but I'm glad I know better now. Thanks for the vid 😊❤

Stop comparing your hair to others. It will never be that. Learning about, and accepting our hair is the only way to stop beating yourself up for something you were born with, and can't change. The old serenity prayer, and all that.

You used so many great analogies.  I feel like I’m finally learning what my fine hair likes.  My hair likes fewer products and simple routines for curly and straight styles.

I don't think my hair is fine, it's more of a medium thickness, but it's just as frustrating because it's also a bit transparent and no one compliments it; it's true that thick hair is the standard. Unfortunately.

We should learn that not only thick hair is healthy hair and that all hair thickness are beautiful. 🤷🏽‍♀️

The positive thing about having fine hair sleek back lays well.  For me that is ....😅  stay away from products with too much alcohol  and also dont keep protective styles in for too long

Having fine high density hair is so damn confusing. You go from a full fro to looking bald when you tie your hair. Buns look tiny AF and people are shocked by how much hair you have and how long it is when they see it loose. Shiiiid I'm shocked too😂

Unfortunately, in the natural hair community, any hair type that isn't thick, high density and low porosity is seen as damaged. There's no amount of castor oil that'll make my hair strands thicker or increase the number of hair follicles on my scalp. fact, my scalp is so oily that putting more oil on top of it gives me an itchy, smelly scalp. My hair does best when I wash it every 5-7 days, depending on my active I am. I stopped listening to people who wash their hair once a month or less a long time ago. Or people who claim that you need an entire day to take wash your hair.
On the bright side: I can wash my hair and be outside within 1 hour. There's no such thing as a wash day over here, I no longer plan my life around my hair.

My hair is so fine that when it dries, all I have to do is brush it and it will straighten itself. Also for those with fine hair, the best deep conditioner I found is mayo with castor oil! I leave it in for about an hour or two with a cap on. No longer since it’s food. Do what works best for your hair though.

The moment I realized that my hair was high density was so healing. I thought my hair was unhealthy etc but now I’ve grown to love it and know what works for it. It’s shiny even while see through and the length and volume is so much healthier. Don’t let people dictate your hair. I was out here trimming my hair so much before realizing they weren’t split ends😂 all hair types are beautiful when well taken care of💜

Folks act like fine hair is a moral failing. Not everyone on Earth is gonna have thick hair. That's just unrealistic.

High density fine hair is NOT easy. Yes, it may be seen as more socially acceptable or visually appealing but because it is high density but also fine, the hair tends to tangle a lot and really easily. Basically you are living with single strand knots 24/7. And while it is fuller, it takes much longer to do than fine hair that is lower density. It is also impossible for me to put my hair in a sleek style due to the length and density. The grass always seems greener on the other side, but I promise you there are pros and maybe unexpected cons to everything 😭

I have really fine hair but its high density so it confused the mess out of me back when i first went natural. I actually went natural inspired  by Naptural85's mini twist back in the day. When i big chopped after 2 years of transitioning i was soooo happy to see how thick my hair was, i thought i was gonna live in twists.....until i did my first set of mini twist and i looked bald.  I was stunned! The difference between my loose hair and the twist was baffling. It was only after researching i realised why my twists looked boneless. I hardly ever do twists because i hate the way they look on me, my hair is now tailbone length and has been for the past 10 years now and i just wear it out or in a low bun most time.
