The more we start appreciating our natural hair, the better for us

What's the point of using heat to straighten coily hair when the first kiss of moisture returns it to its natural state? Waste of time, and a recipe for damage in the long term.

Plus, any straightened style prevents regular washing, in order to preserve the straightened hair at the expense of cleanliness.

I have extremely thick hair.  I like keeping my hair styles simple cornrows and twist no extensions.  I like being practical with my hair

I like the straighten my hair when it's time for a trim, but I have learned to embrace my natural hair. I was definitely a "silk pressed" natural for years because of the convenience, but after having to constantly cut my hair and starting over time after time because of the damage, I am shocked at how full and fluffy my natural hair is. I love it here !!

Underneath my wigs, I have bra strap length, FINE 4c, medium dense hair. It took me a long time to realize that a part of growing it healthy first and growing it long was leaving it alone and having a routine to nourish my scalp and hair.

Ever since I started using grease , my fine strands have been so healthy ! Also, the main part of heat damage is the average natural doesn’t know how to blow dry properly.I have high density so it looks thick but, my strands are fine 🎯

Everything you said is so true. This woman who works at my optometrist was admiring my wash-n-go and was telling me should couldn't do the same style because her hair kept breaking off at the top of her head. I was surprised because she had waist length knotless braids in and I thought how can her hair manage all that tension 🤔 In the end, I told her once I found out what worked best for my fine, high porosity, medium density type 4 hair, and which products worked best, it was a game changer for me. Then I told her she should be figuring out all those things for her hair type, texture, and density to have healthier hair. You gotta find what works for you.

The last time I blow dried my hair, it was so damaged that I had to shave my whole head. Now I don't do blow dry anymore

As someone who thought she wanted to wear her natural hair straight.. don’t do it LOL I big chopped after 15 years this past July. HEAT DAMAGE.. it’s inevitable. 😂 I’m ok with it and missed the twa season ngl. But heed my warning DON’T DO IT

I hate heat on my hair. I can power through steam and 30 minute conditioner but that is the most I can do.

I used to get my hair hot combed about once a month, 4C fine hair & about medium density. It was done by an old school professional. Now,  I have a relaxer and I only roller sets, no  flat irons or blow dryers.  And I don't wear it down often. Treat your hair like a fine piece of silk. GENTLE!!!
