My fave thing about this game is that it takes place during WWII and everyone is dressed like Death Wish 3

Any game that emphasizes rescuing cats gets my respect

In both the Taitoverse and Jalicoverse,  any game that takes place in the 30s-40s will have some 80s-90s tech and/or fashion.

Get All The Kitty Cats!  A Detective Story

This game is very nicely deranged even for an early 90s beat-em-up. My favorite detail is in the train level where the henchmen are apparently just standing on the tracks minding their own business until you crash into them with your drill train which somehow knocks them ONTO it with you and then they get up and immediately start fighting you. It's completely nonsensical in a way that only a video game can be.

27:12 I love the idea of a beat em up guy just getting lost

Alternative Title: Matt McMuscles and the Case of the Purloined (or is that Purr-loined) Point-Giving Cats!

I wish the title had been 64th Street: A Cat Rescue Story

Renegade was here because Mr X took the rights to the Ultimate Warrior back in Streets of Rage.

Playing this game in Hardest setting is a nightmare

As I put it in my Full Game video, cheapest bosses ever

And yes, Jaleco made the Rushin Beat series, but that's the japanese name

The overseas name are

-Rival Turf

-Brawl Brothers

-The Peacekeepers

All with changes in story and gameplay

End boss looked like Ringo Starr

I’m kinda surprised that there’s a Dogoon on this game’s artwork. I was sure that was only a Violence Fight thing.

The game most people only know about since it's at the beginning of the MAME game list.

10:01 You joke but ship cats are a real thing, particularly in the 20th century. They get rid of the rats. There are some very cute photos of this online, sometimes they would have their own little cat-sized hammocks to sleep in. A ship's cat named Simon is thus far the only feline recipient of the Dickin Medal, a British military decoration just for animals. (Most Dickin Medal recipients are dogs, along with several pigeons back when carrier pigeons were a thing, and a couple horses.)

This is a suspiciously mid 80s looking 1939.

Holy sh...eboygan!

I love this little game. It's unablanced and has some stupidly unfair bosses but it was ambitious to see that the entire world was an intractable environment in its own way. And you even get point bonuses by throwing guys into it. And once you figure out its tricks it's pretty fair as far as arcade beat-em-ups go.

Also, the Noble Savage is the coolest final level name I've ever heard. What little writing this game has is solid gold.

Nice that they had twin Jerry Lawlers as a boss.

This got released on Evercade on their arcade cartridges! Everyone was impressed how good this game was, despite nobody hearing of it before.
Evercade is definitely the superior Japanese version, as the background gets visibly damaged as you toss folks into it

13:24 There's no way that Cosby sweater is from the 30s.

I wonder if Matt did a "What Happened To: Kensei Sacred Fist"?
