Looks like those sheds might be better built than some of the new construction out there right now.

People actually telling someone living in their car they don't deserve the cooler they have? WTF is wrong with people?

Hotels beating apartments for COL shows how messed up the real estate market really is

I lost my husband 2 years ago and everything changed for me. I currently live in an RV that was gifted to me. I am surviving on $1000 a month. It can be very difficult at times, but I am so grateful to have a roof over my head and not be living in my old van anymore. I believe that this too shall pass, and the experience will be worth it in the end.

I volunteer at a food / clothing bank.  People from all walks of life are in need.  This includes the 'working poor', physically disabled, mentally ill and so many other categories.  It's just plain hard to make ends meet, especially when you're on your own.  Please make volunteerism part of your life, if possible. The rewards go both ways.

Thanks for not bombarding us with ads and sponsorships or trying to sell us merch.

Used to work for Public Storage and one day I did a lock check and found someone living in their unit with an entire living room. The man was nice and actually cleaned the bathroom on that floor, so I turned a blind eye, but if corporate had caught wind they would have been kicked out immediately. Not that I'm encouraging this, but if you're staying in a storage unit, here are some tips: Behave yourself, don't be a nuisance, be helpful to property management, and DO NOT post about it. Most property managers are fine bending the rules for folks who aren't trouble.

The used to threaten us by saying if we don’t work hard, we will live in a shed. Now people who actually work hard can only afford a shed 😢

The difference between a shed and a tiny house is insulation, indoor plumbing, and $75,000.

It is easy to tell others where to live when you are lucky enough to have a house or an income stream that pays rent every month.

What many people don't realize when they are judging people who live in hotels/extended stays is that it's $1500/month in TOTAL not $1500 base rent plus water, sewer, trash and their own electricity and possibly wifi if they need it for work. It's not cheap. Have some empathy.

Now is never a better time for Sears catalogue home kits to make a comeback.

It disgusts me that I remember in the 70s and 80s we were dirt poor, but we survived pretty easy, now its 2026, we have modern living, modern technology, we even have Ai, and it baffles me that it's 1000x worse now than it was then.

I would like to note that as the tourism industry starts to collapse because of inflation and high gas prices, hoteliers are desperate to get their rooms filled and thus have to allow the "working unsheltered" to fill this void in traditional business and leisure stays!

My father relunctly rented an apartment to three college students, but charged more rent. They were good tenants.  As each graduated he reduced the rent 1/3. The last student needed a year and my father charged him the 1/3.  He asked why? My father replied why not? The last became a doctor and upon a doctor's visit he told my mother you made this possible.

none of these regulations on sheds are here to protect us.

My friend bought a wooden shack type property beside a lake. It was much cheaper than a house. He thought he had solved his housing problem. Unfortunately, he discovered local residency laws meant he could only live in it during the summer. They get you every way.

It's not just about the habitation being up to code. Here in Ontario, an up-to-code tiny home cannot be the only residence on a standard lot. The reason is the city wants more money from you from property tax.
