I’m glad Warner Archive reissued this and Volume Two as the Blu-ray versions of both were going for hundreds on the second hand market. Volume One was the only one that came with a digibook packaging and while I definitely prefer that to this, I do think it’s cool in that it matches better with Volumes Two and Three as those were always standard amaray cases and not digibooks. 2:07 Yes it is, I have the original 2011 release and the back does indeed look different. This stock art was included in the booklet written by Jerry Beck himself. A real shame that wasn’t included in this reissue, but still great that they reissued this at all.
3:27 Yes, I always thought Volume Three was the weakest in terms of Bonus Features. I really like that this set has a Bonus Disc with features primarily about Chuck Jones and that Volume Two is mostly Tex Avery. Would’ve been great if Volume Three had lots of Bonus Features on Bob Clampett.
Very nice look at Volume 1. I always appreciated being able to have all of the shorts together in one set, so this Platinum Collection series gets the job done quite well.
I ordered this last Friday alongside Volume 2, looking forward to getting these at long last. For context: I live in the UK so waiting for them to be dispatched and sent to my house. I got Volume 3 back in May, one thing that baffles me is why Volumes 1 and 2 went out of print while Volume 3 stayed in print
