Based Fringy hating things I have never watched and don’t care about. I will agree with him for simple contrarian purposes

Fringy and EFAP: Let's talk about how Bojack Horseman is terrible for an hour.
Me, who hasn't watched a single episode and never plans to: I'm in, let's go.

In hindsight it should have been a sign that the majority of my college friends who thought this was peak comedy would turn out to be the humorless ideologically trapped losers they all turned out to be

In a world with depressing nihilism, we need more Smiling Friends

I feel like a similar problem with the 2010’s era nihilism humor is the same as the marvel quip style humor: both are afraid to have a sincere moment and undercut themselves for the sake of the punchlines

The inpression i got from Bojack Horse was that it was Depression/Nihlism Porn for Theatre Kids and Hollywood types and as such it would have some good surface ideas but none of the depth

I have no Netflix.
I have no Amazon Prime.
I have no HBO.
I have no Disney Plus.

And yet I am content, for I miss out on more bad content than good content.

25:01 “Puns are not the highest form of comedy!”

My dad would like to have a word with you, Fringy.

“Normal words, but a horse guy” - the family guy

The show loves reminding people how bad Bojack is but when a chicken hillbilly lobotomizes and kills his own kind for profit that’s funny. Lmao

Look, man, I've just never found the interest of this show being "Oh I watched this and it made me feel miserable about life...but it's SO GOOD cuz it hates itself!". Absolutely nothing about that sounds inviting.

Describing how the drama gets more deficient reminds me of that whole idea of "If you quit playing Dark Souls, in universe your character went hollow" but in this case "if you tap out of Bojack, that's another person who had enough of his crap and left."

I love how like half the chat is like "Cold Take" and the other half yelling WRONG! and "Sometimes parents are evil though"

This show taught me that being an asshole isn’t good.

I recently saw The IT Crowd, and there's an episode where they meet a cannibal based on that german guy who ate the other guy with his consent. The joke is that nobody cares, except Jen. The thing is, the show constantly uses absurdist humor, so it doesn't ask you to care about something mundane in comparison. The impresion I got is that Bojack does. We're asked to take a former sexual harasser going back to work plotline seriously when they live in a world of cannibals. That's the issue Fringy was getting at, I think.

I watched every single episode of Bojack. The only time I laughed was when they referenced "whos on first" and the puns. Every other "drama" episode is the most surface level, "I'm 14 and this is deep" pretentious nonsense ever. Like Fringy says "the most cartoonishly evil characters for no reason"

I watched 5 seasons of Bojack, and I agree with Fringy. Unironically, I think the trailer for Season 4 may be one of my favorite trailers for a show, because of the music choice and it set up that the season would have Bojack out of the main cast as he seemed to run away. Then he came back like an episode later. It was a weird letdown.

There was an episode where they compared Diane to Daria, and I just want to say, if they meant it seriously, they failed horribly. The whole point of Daria is that she's her own worst enemy, whereas Diane is so often portrayed as saintly and the only sane cast member.

Finally, whenever the show tried to talk about politics, it was like watching a slow motion train wreck.

I need Fringy or someone to talk more in depth about how shite Bojack Horseman is. So sick of people talking about how this show is the second coming of Christ.

The problem with these kind of shows is that people only remember the good parts but fail to see that's only like 25% of it and you have to suffer the rest.

Fringy pretty much perfectly summed up all my thoughts about this show. Based Cathartic Fringoid.
