Bar queuing is an absolute thing. One of the things we should all teach our kids. Also, taking the glasses and putting them back on the bar on the way out.

Understatement is a big thing in the UK. If you were to go to a hotel reception and say that you have a ‘small problem,’ there’s a good chance that the room is on fire.

No one mentioned the barber's shop queue? People are sitting in a room when you arrive, they are all before you, they know their order but you dont need to. As they go for their turn others will arrive and sit down. Once everyone who was there when you arrived has gone you're next, simple. No single person knows the order of the queue, but everyone knows their place in it. It works.

As a brit if you’re waiting in line and you’re buying groceries, you’ll let someone who has four or five items go in front of you

Cheering the broken glass is breaking the tension and slagging the person who dropped it for their skillful glass handling. Not done with malice, just fun

I love the fact that we can ask the person behind you to "save your place" in the queue while you go get someone

The bar queue is sacrosanct. We all watch out for who is already there and who arrives after us. If the bar staff aren’t sure who’s next, they’ll do a “look around pointing at who it could be” gesture, and then the people waiting will either raise a finger to claim being next, or gesture towards the person they believe it to be.

Failure to follow the system could result in shaken heads of disappointment, or (worse) tutting.

the thing you gotta understand about the weather over here is that you can go from bright warm sun to freezing cold and pissing it down at opposite ends of the same street, within the same day we can have rain, snow, high winds, hot sun, and just general gloom, the weather is a perfectly valid topic when you have that shit going on all the time

Driving etiquette:  when you stop before a line of parked cars to allow the oncoming traffic to get through, EVERY ONE of the oncoming vehicles have to acknowledge that you waited by putting their hand up and woe betide you if you don’t!

I was visiting friends in the US a few years ago. Somebody dropped a plate and I automatically cheered. Everyone looked at me like I was mad. My lovely American friend just said very loudly, “She’s British!” and everyone just kind of nodded and went about their day 😂

Us Brits love an organised queue!!! There is also an unspoken rule, especially when waiting for the bus, that you allow the elderly/disabled to go first. I'm in my 40's, and use a walking stick. There have been many mini {obviously polite} arguments between myself and others....them insisting I get on first as I have a disability, myself insisting they go first as they were there first. "After you.." "No, no, after YOU" lol.

If you don't want to stop someone sitting next to you on public transport, smile at the person and pat the seat. It's much more effective than putting a bag down.

If someone drops a glass, its a negative moment. So just force some fun positivity in to it, you drop a glass and youre like "oh no!" then everyone starts cheering and you cant help but crack a smile. Its not exactly a polite thing as we are still pointing out your failure, but we're telling you youre only human and just crack on.

Normally there isn't a queue as such, at the bar, but you approach the bar and wait your turn to be served.  Good bar staff will identify who is next to be served.  I've been in a busy pub and the barman will, whilst serving one person, tell another "you're next, mate".

Ex Britiah Bar Manager here, as bar staff our eyes are literally everywhere, this not only helps identify who is to be served next, but also helps to identify potential trouble, spikings and possible medical emergencies

If you are at the checkout of supermarket (grocery store), you have lots of items, and you notice the shopper behind you only has a couple of items you will politely ask if they want to jump in ahead of you.

I've never realised how odd it is to cheer when a glass is dropped. But it's what we do. (I used to run a pub)

Fun fact: in British English you can take most two-syllable nouns, verbify it in the past tense and it'll mean "drunk".
Examples: Trolleyed, hammered, plastered, wankered.

Here in Wales you can wake up in the summer with glorious sunshine, spend the afternoon in the rain and raging gales in the evening, hence why we talk about the weather, you just don’t know what’s going to happen from 1 hour to the next
