Oh wow. Just hearing the opening theme tune made me tear up! Could picture myself as a youngster curled up on the sofa next to my mum and dad watching our fav programme. Sniff sniff. A lifetime ago and so innocent to the madness we now live in.
As someone who lives in a posh neighborhood, yet does as much as I can to be self-sufficient. I've always adored this show and the amazing friendship they had with one another.
This has always been a comfort series for me too. Itβs a good reminder to simplify life , and be grateful. Even if you donβt want to simplify as much as they have, it feels good to imagine that you could succeed even in the most basic circumstances. π
Penelope Keith was awarded Dame of the British Empire in 2014, and very rightly so. Although her characters were aloof and middle-upper class, her acting always appealed to me, as a working class....Her Majesty and her decision to make Penelope a DBE was superb β€
Wonderful comedy from the 70s ...and the writing and acting was done with a lovely warmth and honesty,..the 1970s had some really great comedies, ....sadly modern telly is so boring by comparison.....this decade was a golden era in sitcoms
If only we could go back to the simpler times when this was first on the "telly". Television has nothing to offer by way of this genre of entertainment today. Thank goodness a lot of these comedy shows are still around by means of the net. Thank you for uploading for us.π
I'm only in my mid 30's and I feel quite lucky that, between my elder brothers, of various ages, and my parents, I saw comedies from as old as the 50s to the late 90s and 2000s (when I was growing up). Some of the 70s ones were just brilliant. I loved The Good Life. And Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em and Last Of The Summer Wine were great too.
Though it's hard to think of Last Of The Summer Wine as a 70s series when it went on for so many decades!
Penelope Keith is one of the icons in the British Arts industry . And her actors skill will be a beacon always, Thankyou , Condolences to all who knew this incredible woman,
