I was getting into this one and then the main character, cloistered since childhood and raised to be a spiritual mouthpiece, started swearing and acting like any other random villager and the love interest was named Mendacious and he whips out a joint that the cloistered nun takes a hit on and it all totally cracked the misty, ethereal atmosphere the author had been successfully building.

I kept on to the end, and it was just kind of..eh, all things told. It didn't make me actively frustrated, just left me disappointed and wishing for something else.

thank u rachel gillig for making ur book impossible to talk about without having a little giggle who the hell names their love interest myndacious

Moths? Divining? Eye coverings? By Oblivion, she is a moth priest!

This book started so good for me, I love religious related magic. I always hate character’s names, so i was looking past that. However, I DNFed at 88% cause they randomly started fucking ??? I wish sometimes that a love confession wouldn’t end with a sex scene

I love book reviews from bilingual* people ranting about books that use random words in their native language… 😂 it’s always hilarious!! 😂 The whole acorn-thing killed me!! 😂

i rarely dnf a book but i hated this book so much. The first few chapters set the tone so well and i was very invested and after she fled with the main love interest it just went downhill and got stupid. i really dont get the hype around this

My biggest peeve with romantacy/fantasy books lately is when they give people ungainly medievaly sounding names like Roderick and then proceed to call them Rory the whole book, or Benji... also just finished the second book and found it to be absolutely boring

“have you ever tried doing it yourself??” got me 😂

So if the Omens are just immortal stinky water addicts, where do the visions (divinations...?) come from?

i disliked one dark window so much it cured me of all the Gillig hype instantly. great because these covers are so pretty for the knight series that i would definitely have been tempted

'more like the what and the fuck' 😭😭😭

I can’t get over that terrible worldbuilding like what do you mean there are entirely different cultures and traditions just 30 minutes away? 😭

No way! Just started this book yesterday. I guess i'm gonna have to speed read it so i can watch this video lol

But after the first two chapters i can already feel that i'm not gonna vibe with this one. The whole ceremony was just a straight up infodump and all the names are ridiculous. And alive gargoyles... I can't take that seriously after the Crave series.

First video I’ve seen of yours and I honestly kept laughing out loud 😂 there’s something to your dry, sarcastic sense of humor that’s hilarious while trying to explain the ludicrousness of this book 🤣

I came into this book without a brain and liked it, if I read it with my brain I wouldn’t

oh the hate for the word "exquisite" is BACK!!

Beutolomäus mentioned = instant like  (einzig wahrer Geschenkesack)

Omfg i was so confused by all of the hype, it was so bad 😭

Imagine going around named Helena Bellend lmfao

I’m obsessed with your reviews!
