Unboxing: Airfix 1/72 Gloster Gladiator 2024 version...

This Gladiator tooling has been released by Airfix a few times in the last decade and I have bought almost all of them... So have Airfix got anything new to bring to the table? Well, yes.

Join me as I build this excellent kit.

And if you are not from the UK, "Gloster" is the correct pronounciation of "Gloucester", but the company changed the spelling to appeal to the foreign market!

The first Airfix Gladiator kit I built didn't even have a cockpit but only a small ball under the transparent canopy which, according to the intentions of the company across the channel, was supposed to simulate the pilot's head 😄

Great finish on the Gladiator, I haven’t tried the newer tooling last completed one in 2007(ish), your vid has encouraged a sale!

Nice build, looks really good. My own is in the dark green and earth RAF camo of 1940. I must also say that the Gloster Gladiator is my favourite fighter of all time, never really been a Spitfire or Hurricane admirer like most people seem to be.

Nice job on this kitt. I done one with irish air corps about 7 years ago and it still looks well. Iwould a 1/48 scale . They are a really nice transition aircraft.

The 'should guns be gunmetal' colour is one of my bug bears at the moment. I come from an era when all the guns i use(d) are black (i think its called 'parkerised') with maybe silver where the black has worn away. I don't think i've ever seen a 'gunmetal' colour gun.

Looks good. I am a fan of the Glad and want to someday build a rubber power one out of balsa. I have a kit that I'm not impressed with so I hope to scratch build.
