YE LIKE ME LOBSTER THOUGH DON’T YE?!?!?!

I love that Robert said he always imagines the atmosphere before the details of the story. The atmosphere he creates is always what sticks out to me in his films, it’s my favorite thing. He’s fantastic at it.

It’s insane they built that entire thing as a set.

Imagine telling Robert Eggers that his movie is not weird enough

working on a film like this seems like one of the coolest jobs in the world. I know its a cutthroat industry, but working with an auteur like Eggers has to make it all worth it.

I grew up in small town Newfoundland, and his character sounds just like the crazy old men I grew up around.

My friend gave me mushrooms and then put this movie on on in a dark room on a house boat. Would I’ve liked a different way of viewing it for the first time….yes but I don’t think I’ve been that terrified from a movie since

Seeing these recognizable shots in-color is so uncanny lol!

his best film so far imo, incredible

Turns out the crew were the ones method acting, having to build and maintain the set in those conditions lmao

fucking masterpiece

I always said that I hope eggers just did strictly period piece films, and it did my heart good to read that that’s what he plans to do. He and his team are masters of period pieces.

one the best Lovecraftian horror movies of all time

I think the best part of this film is that every effort, dollar, intention and planning all were executed into a incredible final form of being the movie it's self.
I'm sure it was hell to make, but i feel like this is going to be one of the last time's we actually get a movie of this caliber.

I loved this movie so much. The acting and the script are amazing

If quality had a face, it would be this video.

This movie made me a fan of Robert Pattinson

Every single thing about this movie is perfect.

Such masterpiece.

it is a truly degenerate mainstream industry when neither Robert or even Willem were awarded the curt gesture of one of those darkhorse never-gonna-actually-win Oscar Nominations.

I mean they're BOTH Award-Worthy performances around the highest levels of the craft ... but Willem is something else in that movie. something strange in his performance that you  - at least in my opinion - RARELY get in movies. any movie.

the Grizzled N'oreastern Lighthouse Keeper is such a meme that The Simpsons has been making fun of it for thirty-five years. and just like Robert Eggers said, it was so obviously goofy and cringe that it was gonna sink the whole movie ... yet you just don't think of the cliches when Willem's onscreen. it's a miraculous performance that simply doesn't happen naturally or by accident. and the kind of hubristic "Oh, it's just Willem being Willem" both our culture and The Academy must have about it is infuriating.

anyway. of course it's not about the awards ... but it IS about honoring the truly outstanding work in the art of film. or I thought it was. why bother acting SO hard when they'll give the award away to an able but goofy lip-synced Freddie Mercury charade with crazy fake horse teeth? (Directed by Bryan Singer! so you know it's quality!)

Might be my favorite film of all time
