I got told I was white-washed because I don't say the N-word, wtf dude. 😭

"we were asking for it" dude stop blaming yourself, you got bullied because of the bullies, not because of you

I see the Oreo allegations transcends countries 🥲
Nigerian-American black girl here, with the voice of a suburban white girl.
Us nerdy black folks can’t catch a break ✊🏽

White American guy, sent this immediately to my black wife. She was born and raised in Spain to Sierra Leonean parents, they never taught her their languages, so she sounds white to other Africans but others in the Basque country see her as a foreigner until she speaks in Basque (iykyk, its hard as hell). We'll joke about her being "whiter" than me, but it honestly makes me so sad to see how she's too black for the white people but not African enough for many other Africans. One's accent or ancestry shouldn't detract from their legitimacy as a member of the communities they were born into.

0:12 the accent is so hard that subtitles thought you were white

i feel like 30 years from now a "youtube accent" is gonna be a global phenomena

I've seen people called gay for the smallest things, like brushing their teeth. Meanwhile I actually am gay and am somehow the straight passing-est person ever because no one ever guesses it until I tell them. I'm not trying to hide it either I guess I just have bad fashion sense

African kid accent identity crisis is so real, we all been there😭

4:30 I feel bad for that kid. Behaving like that is not normal and at such a young age it makes me strongly question his home life.

Its just racism/colorism at this point. Race ≠ culture or accent. Just bc you're black doesn't mean you should be put down bc you dont "fit the mold" its something i call black elitism, where black people view their culture as the "correct" one and any other black or mixed person who doesn't fit whether bc they're mixed, light skin or their culture is different must be ridiculed and exiled. A black person is not allowed to look/appreciate/sound like any other culture especially "white"(personally culture shouldn't be listed through skin color as that has nothing to do with culture) I think everyone regardless of skin tone should be held accountable for their colourism/racism.
Mixed kids who are white passing despite having a fully black parent: are stripped of things to empower them. They can't wear braids, can't wear their cultural clothes, can't say certain words and if they " talk" black then they're pretending. Im from a mixed family- the extreme bullying my white passing family members have gotten at the hands of OTHER black people and mixed people is sickening.
Black or dark enough mixed kids: if they dont wear their hair right, talk right or wear the right clothes as you point out, aren't accepted and ridiculed bc they're perceived as white and thats a crime. It doesn't matter if youre a British or american citizen and proud of it, showing any love for your Nationality is betrayal to these people

Again, its not right and NO ONE should be made to feel bad for their accent OR culture.

I'm Scottish, my entire family is Scottish but I've lived in England since I was two. So whenever I go to visit my relatives in Scotland they take the piss out of my accent.

4:16 that kinda passionate homophobia at that age makes me glad you didn't see his parents, goddamn

2:30 I love how “AMERICAN” was worse than “Oreo” 🤣

As an American we kind of deserve it tho lmao.

As an English dude in Australia; The mocking of accents transcends all communities

Poor 5 yo kid. So young and already so poisoned by homophobia. Sheesh - wtf is it so important who a stranger loves? If you are a girl who don't want to get a girlfriend - then just don't. I wish ppl could focus more on what really does destroy families (alcohol, infidelity, violence). I'm not gay, and am not saying anyone else is either. Just saying that h8 and shame are very poor teachers.

Love your vids, mate. I live in Sweden, and the most south I've been is Morocco. So now I learn. Cheers!

that 5 y/o kid is insaneeee 😅

I can painfully relate to feeling like a whitewashed African. Like, I've been called 'white' by friends and acquaintances because I don't act like the typical Nigerian Igbo girl. Like, it's not by force to be loud and outgoing just because of my nationality or native language... And yes, I only speak english as well. 🥲

6:20 "Genu-wine & Trosh" i love him ❤

Now, please take this with a grain of salt, because I'm a white woman, but I've always found it kind of mean and borderline racist to accuse a black person of being "whitewashed" just because they don't fit in with the stereotype. People are all different, and there's no wrong way to be any race! Im half-Hispanic, and I've struggled with feeling not "Hispanic enough" when my spanish wasn't as good as others in my family, and since I've never been to Cuba, so I guess I can somewhat relate.
