I found the initial cutscene absolutely hilarious in how completely pointless it is.

It's 2003, and Blizzard is releasing an extra campaign for their WC3 RTS that is more of an isometric RPG to promote their upcoming MMO.

First thirty minutes is Day 9 yelling at clouds, and I love him for it.

Extremely funny that Blizzard surprised us with a new campaign after all these years, and it's the RPG Durotar style no base building kind that Sean hated and quit lmao

11:32 "This better not play like the Rexxar campaign"

Me looking forward to Day9 playing a prologue and 3 acts of the new rexxar campaign.

26:50 - Day9 saying "newbie" immediately flashed me back to the story with Sen from like 15 years ago 🤣🤣 "but you newbie"

Totally agree about the base building. The Durotar campaign was novel and full of heart, but to create a new campaign for War3 without base building in 2026 feels bad man.

Is that like Jim Raynor at the far left tent at 2:19:15? Looks like a Starcraft Marine next to the paladin with the flowing cloths hanging down.

The camera falling over at 1:25:00 makes an incredible sound.

Haven’t watched day9 in a long time but my soul is ready for this

"This is not why I play RTS games. Like, I mean, this is just not it." 23:35 Brother, same

I have similar first impressions. I enjoy that the Hard difficulty is actually hard, but I feel a bit iffy that it's barely an RTS campaign.

I loved the Rexxar campaign, but I assumed this was supposed to be a consolation prize for people disappointed that the new StarCraft game isn’t an RTS. Then it turns out this isn’t an RTS either.

1:29:08 - Saving the priest with 2 HP left. It's amazing how calm Day9 can be when playing RTS.

2:24:51 My analogy to an RTS without base building is like an RPG without an inventory or equipable items. And instead of skill points, you only get stronger by picking up pre-placed powerups across the map.

You lose the agency in what kind of gameplay you want to engage in, you lose the customization you’re able to do, and you lose the satisfaction of knowing that your strength is due to your own choices.

love it when day9 says to a person in chat about if you're gonna read one thing at least read 2 things. Who then 15 seconds later says arthas is returning? isn't he the lich king? these little things that he does always makes me chuckle. oblivious

It is cool that they made new music for this, and it is VERY cool that they got new voicelines from old actors like Uther

The reforged graphics feel like they're trying to make models more proportionally accurate instead of making them nice looking from a top-down perspective. They're also both more exaggerated and less exaggerated in various ways. But mostly, I'd say the models look slimmer.
Except that grunt. He just has a hard-to-see head while being chunky.

Garek: "I will not leave until I kill the bad guy"
Some time later
Landen: "Run!"
Garek: "Well if you insist"

I feel like Dawn of War 2, is the only RTS game that did a single big boss fight well.
