We used to have an exotic and rare car garage in the town i live in, they had an R390 in the showroom for a few weeks, i would walk a mile out of my way to see that thing. The garage is now a chippy.😢

The speed 8 has to be one of the most beautiful racecars ever made. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it

There will never be quite an era like the late 80s and 90s where it was an arms race to win at Le Mans. Not to mention GT1's homologation rules where race cars for the street. Nissan's response "Regulations? What Regulations?" Best answer.

Ok that money comment about Nissan wasn’t a burn that was hydrogen bomb 😂

One car that IMO would deserve it's own video is the Reiter (Sareni) Camaro GT3.
That thing was completely bonkers with a 7.9L engine and exactly the sound you'd expect from that.
Performance on track was... well... in GT Masters everyone hated it, because it would make up many positions on the flying start, then proceed to be a roadblock.

However, there was another reason why it was detested by the competition: It was offered for 195k € in 2012, meaning it only cost about half as much as other GT3s, meaning it even significantly undercut the prices for used GT3 cars.

Also, fun fact. The C291 is one of the few group C cars capable of reaching 14,000 RPM by the end of the season, and this was due to the change in the butterfly flaps in the M291 engine. Sauber Mercedes change the 8 butterfly flaps to 12. This increased the power from 530-640 as well as the RPM from 12,600 to 13,200 RPM but as you said reliability was a major issue. The engine itself wasn't all that heavy only weighing 374 LBS and that includes the clutch and exhaust system as well. Another reason why I love this car so much is the sound that it produces, as well as the overall looks of the car. I do have plans on building a road legal version of my own someday.

The Reynard 02S concept remained in competition up until 2016, the latest iteration being Gibson 015S (formerly Zytek).

The Ferrari 575 GTC did something, not even the Prodrive built 550 GTS could manage : The 575 GTC won it's first race at Estoril in Portugal in 2003 👍

Lucky enough to have seen a Jag XJR-15 in the flesh at my friends garage. The sound is AMAZING!! 🤩

The R390 and it's road-going version were some of the best looking exotic cars then or since

Few channels make me feel as nostalgic as this one. My God, if only I could go back to those days; they just somehow seem to epitomize racing far better than what we see today.
BTW, since you asked, I for one would love to see more late '70s Group 5, and the entertaining DRM/ DSM/ DTM with their Group 2, Group 4, Group 5?, Group 6, Group A, Group B, AAAHHHH!
