Too many people equating an individual having wealth to moral purity, and someone in poverty as morally bankrupt on top of financially, is why we’re trapped in the brutal societal/economic system we are.

I feel like a lot of people find these “right Rich” people to be like “them” because they have something relatable but also living vicariously through the person who is “riching right” because they aren’t okay with their own lives.

I love the way Kara explained that we're beyond the "temporarily embarrassed billionaires" trope and more into a society of "temporarily embarrassed wannabe autocrats." If billionaires have to pay taxes too and work as much as the average person, then there's no point to having that much money if you still have to worry about being accountantable to the rest of society. That's the reason why billionaires perform "being rich" and entertain being celebrities.

As I work hard with my husband to put together a down-payment for a mortgage on a house, this video is putting a balm on my heart and confirms how right we are to make financial decisions based on sustainability and sustainable spending, rather than splurging on luxuries. Just threw a lump sum in my TFSA (Canadian equivalent to a Roth-IRA) in addition to upping my weekly deposits into it, I would much rather do that than increase my cost of living/lifestyle-inflate as I get raises at my job. Your videos help motivate me to keep doing the right thing, no matter how tempting the opposite may be.

Also worth mentioning is that what's deemed "classy" vs. "trashy" can be a racist dog whistle sometimes. I've seen several videos lately that are labeled "old money vs. no money" that show expensive items or lifestyle choices in both sides of the comparison, but the "old money" items are typically associated with stereotypical rich white people and the "no money" items are typically associated with stereotypes of people of color.

About 15 years ago, rich kids pushed this “follow your bliss” nonsense, about being too good for 9-to-5 jobs, and boldly “choosing” creative pursuits instead. Back then I was young and naive and hated myself for just not getting it together enough to be able to quit my pathetic cubicle job. Ha, turns out, they were just rich nepo kids who didn’t have to work at all. Lol.
Best advice is to get off social media.

I think people don’t understand not only what a billion dollars is, but they also misinterpret how became wealthy. Being a billionaire requires stepping on people, trying to make that much money means you don’t care where the chips fall. And we know this because we see the lack of empathy on the part of very public billionaires who are always self serving, also research has validated that fact - the more you have the less care you have for others.

Glad to see this. Hannah Alonzo's video on Becca Bloom was SO out of touch. I wish she had done a follow-up video based on all the comments she got, but she never did. It was needed to see a massive YouTube channel talk about the weird obsession with "she's rich but it's tasteful, not like all these new money peeps." It's classism and hatred for the poor, nothing else.

Tbh it’s been really good for my mindset to follow next to zero rich people on social media. I just don’t need to be seeing a level of consumption I will never achieve. The influencers I get inspo from tend to have a middle-range following and work day jobs.
