The new rover design is definitely one of the highlights of the survival update. Having mobility first thing as you land, and even some mats to make basic upgrades - it's almost a brand new experience! I did still end up hand drilling a ton on my new playthrough, before it occurred to me to stick a drill on the front of the rover :) In my defense though, I didn't really consider "skimming" the surface for the materials, but rather trying to, very carefully, drill into the side of a hill. It kinda worked.

I recently started a "First Person Only" run. Landed, drove about 100 meters, then rolled down a ravine and exploded. Completely game changing starting with a rover rather than a lander

If your alittle OCDish like me, I recommend making a Language for Block Groups. For Example mine is: "Thrusters [Spawn Rover]" / "Items [GridName]" That way when things are connected together you can easily tell what belongs to what

- Cannibalize the Rover!! - I love that you're teaching new players that builds are not only pretty, they can save you in a predicament and that unlocks a new way of multidimensional thinking.

I have so many hours in this game, and I never thought about using decoration as storage for repairs. Next time I make a rover, I'll add more nonfunctional additions for parts. I learn something new every time I see your videos.

This makes the 20+ deaths and 4 hours i spent in my first multiplayer play three seem very silly 😅. I will definitely be deploying similar tactics when me and my friend play again. Also your voice is actually pretty nice to listen to and the way you explain things is straght forward.

I’ve found that a single large flatmo placed under the cockpit has allowed me to do some mostly successful canyon jumping on Pertam. It has just enough thrust to work and the fact that it’s hidden makes it feel like some kind of knight rider super jump mode. Or maybe I just need to get out more.

Thanks, Splitsie for making these. I don't personally need the tutorial, and I might do it differently in my own game. But I really enjoy seeing the simple, easy ways to get started. You have put it together well and include hints about different approaches. Well done!

These tutorial videos are getting me closer and closer to actually try playing an extended survival playthrough, given I've never gotten farther than the basic refinery and assembler in Space Engineers, here's to more great tutorials! :D

"[…] instead of P, which does everything […]" This is why those blocks have the "Use for parking" check box, Splitsie! So that you can CHOOISE what's used for parking!

Okay, what did I learn today: Check if a block appears in multiple places in de progression tree. I always though that I needed to build basic refinery to build a drill.
Note to self: Ain't that cute ... BUT IT'S WRONG!

With add wheel, you can select the unbuilt wheel and a completed wheel. This allows you to add the wheel before your new suspension are functional.

If you leave steering on any rear wheels on a rover, but turn it down to 1 degree, it will help a lot with the rover wobble that constantly pulls you towards one direction.
