“Gen Z” and 9 times outta ten it’s a conservative American man theyre talking about

Kind of funny to listen about how gen z is too puritanical and afraid of sex in a country with outlawed abortion

As a sex-averse asexual I’m genuinely so fucking tired of ppl assuming that my personal preferences are interchangeable with my world views 😭😭😭 I don’t like the idea of sex and I don’t wanna be sexually involved w anyone, but that doesn’t make me a puritan 😭 I promise you I cannot care less about how much sex people are having, that’s literally none of my business, I just PERSONALLY don’t want to have sex oh my godddd

People are dunking on Gen Z the way they did to millennials years ago. And now it’s Gen Z vs millennials for no reason

Gen z this, Gen z that. How about they just GENuinely go outside and touch some grass

When people talk about Gen Z's lack of sexual activity, many don't realise that many Gen Z have a lack of privacy, health concerns, do not acknowledge asexuality and have unhealed trauma about online predators. Many Gen Z still live with their parents or with roommates. Many don't feel safe enough to bring a partner home and be intimate when someone is a wall away.

as an ace gen z, when i see statements of 'normal amount of sex' and claims of 'less/no sex equals puritanical' its clear this person is still enforcing aphobic ideals that are meant to box people into 'what is the right amount of sex' and deviation causing fear and confusion. the normal amount of sex is what is comfortable for the people engaging with it

I want to add that the youngest members of Gen Z are literal teenagers…who are likely parroting stuff they hear from other people.

Why do they never talk about anything of importance when it comes to Gen Z? The job market is in the trenches; we're losing our reproductive rights; housing, groceries, and gas cost an arm and leg. But sure, let's talk about Gen Z's "puritanical" sex lives cause that's totally more important 💀

btw trying to shit on younger folks for being more careful and hesitant about sex is kind of fucking gross and calling them conservative moral purists to bully them into having sex or getting over sexual trauma is not going to help anyone.

On the conversation of lūst. From an asexual to y’all please remember: anyone telling you how much sēx you should be having, no matter if it is more or less, is a massive red flag!🚩Thats controlling. We want freedom for individuals to choose whichever way they please.

The “Gen Z is too puritanical” argument always came off so anti-woman to me. It feels like we are leaving out why Gen Z women would not want to engage with sex beyond right wing frameworks such as having dangerous or harmful experiences with men, not having enough free time to do so, loss of abortion rights, lack of access to sexual healthcare services and treatments, our treatment DURING sex, the list goes on and on.

But INSTEAD of engaging with these ideas and active conversations, let’s say how puritanical we all are and keep it at that.

At that point, the argument starts to feel like you’re saying, “why aren’t Gen Z women opening their legs as much 😢” because you are more concerned with the sexual outcome for men, than the actual issue itself.

I’m sure Gen Alpha will go through the same thing in a few years. It’s a cycle, and honestly, Gen Alpha is even more concerning than Gen Z, especially with the brainrot culture and the fact that they were literally born into the era of social media, advanced technology, AI, and all of that. It’s probably going to be even rougher for them😭 For now, we Gen Z'ers  are the butt of the joke, and we’re just going to have to take it.

whenever i hear "gen z is puritanical" my first thought is always just.... think about how many people from previous generations only had sex or had kids because it was pushed onto them. of course this is still happening today, but i think we are returning to something that should have been more normal in the first place as people learn more about consent and prioritize their own bodies over other peoples desires, and some even discovering that they may be ace. because we're comparing it to how it used to be, it seems like people don't want it as much, but to even be mad that another person doesn't want to have sex WHATEVER that reason may be is weird to me. (i am also a zillenial!)

I think that before people start talking about gen z being too puritanical they should do research on the meaning and culture. Too many times it seems like people are peeved that younger women aren't as sexually available or demand a certain level of respect which would ironically be contributing to purity culture. You cant critique a single generation for something like this. Its the underlying rot in our culture.

"gen Z is more conservative because it doesn't like sex"
i wonder what the people saying this think about asexuals?

the whole discourse is another side of conservativism... the "male lonliness epidemic" thing didn't kick off so now they're saying gen z are conservative. i can't hep but notice how this is mostly directed at gen z women saying they don't want to be in lustful relationships (it's not farfetched that women want romantic relationships instead of situationships). it's all bad faith and leaves out a lot of context. s*x positivity is not always saying yes, it's also having boundries and not anting to engage in certain sexual behaviour. that's not being conservative.

edit: also it's important to note this discourse is happening alongside abortion rights being taken away, birth rate discourse etc... the far right want to force people to have babies, gen z holding off on having babies and having a dip in the birth rates poses a problem for their ideology and also for the capitalist economy (see elon musk's comments about this). trying to shame people bc they're "not having s*x" is inherently right wing bc it assumes the person is not practicing autonomy. accessibility to contraceptives, abortion and sex ed is being limited so ofc people will abstain.

Another point, less important than things like women's reproductive rights being taken away and young people just not being able to afford anything, but something i feel like is often ignored:
Its kind of insane to me that gen z spent like 2 years of their kid/teen/young adult years, literally only like 6 years ago, where if we stood too close together we could get a virus that has literally killed millions, and then suddenly the government decided they were bored of it and we were just told to stop and move on like none of it happened? Suddenly all the adults around us seemed to forget it ever happened? Like of course there are going to be issues with physical aspects of relationships, it'd be weirder if there wasnt

This is why i get tired of the same type of "gen z is this or that" videos.

Outrage and fear sell faster. It's so silly how the 'sex scenes in movies' has become such an iconic issue to millenials.
A generation that's been flooded with cornography admits they don't see the point of long sex scenes during storytelling?
PURITANS! sound the alarm!
