I have done a complete 180 on the subject of israel. I was so ignorant.

Crazy fact Daniella Weiss was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 2025, that’s what a messed up world we live in

From being a kind of liberal Zionist uneasy about the Nakba (as liberal Zionists generally are), the older I get, the more Zionism looks like a cult. So perfect for a Louis Theroux documentary.

Never forget none of this would be possible without the full backing of the US 🇺🇸 government

"The purpose of propaganda is to make one set of people forget that other sets of people are human." Aldous Huxley

Louis' documentary should be watched by everybody before they make any judgement on the West Bank situation. While watching it imagine this was happening to you - outsiders coming and claiming your lands and property. And the world watched and did nothing.

I have put this comment on before and never had any response.

In 1966 when I came to London on bank holiday Monday in August I moved into the YMCA in South London. The only person I met on that day was a young man called Adnan Sadak.
He said he was from Palestine and I said that the only thing I knew about Palestine is that Jesus was born there.
He revealed to me a story about how people had removed his family from his home that had been his Home for hundreds of years through his ancestry. I asked him why he didn't complain to the authorities and then he told me that the soldiers were the authorities and they were removing all Palestinians from their home. I found this really unbelievable and of course I did not know anything at that time about Israel or it's history, again other than the Bible.

He told me that his family had lost all their wealth which was in the ground and I presume that was crops that they had grown which they would never be able to harvest and sell he told me that he and his people believed that within a year the soldiers would evict all the Palestinians from their homes and they would be murdered and or displaced. He said that the people and the soldiers would not stop until they had erased his people from the land. Not once did he mention the word true or Jewish or Israeli just soldiers?

I never saw this person again as he had obviously left the hostel and was only there for one night but everything he said has come to pass and it's totally weird but it's totally true

Using sexual violence against the people they’re oppressing is the lowest of the low. Despicable.

The one fact that has always fascinated me is that a group of people that was nearly wiped off the face of the earth by another group of people, not only survived it, but are now doing the exact same thing to another group of people.

Zionists are saying "Jews have always been treated very badly so as victims we can do no wrong", and Louis said this well here. When I was in Israel once in the 1980's, an American said to me completely out of  the blue "never again", meaning never again shall Jews be victims, when actually the true lesson from the way Jews have been treated is that no one should ever be treated like that again. As it says in the UN declaration of human rights "the dignity of human beings is inalienable" OWTTE. This statement includes every single person, not certain groups, and with no exceptions. Ever

Yes. In 2006, Jimmy Carter concluded that Israel was engaged in apartheid policies, when it came to Palestinians, and he identified the settlers as a driving force in those policies.

i just watched Louis talk about how horribly guilty he felt about his Saville documentary; I truly think he was too harsh on himself and Settlers is his magnum opus in the reach it had, and how much it changed certain people who had no idea about this reality. I hope he feels he finally atoned, even if I feel he had nothing to atone for.

I never trust ANYONE who is 100% certain of a belief. How can you be? We should all be open to challenge and learning and we can all be wrong. We will never grow and develop if we close our minds to new thoughts.

"very lucrative to be a dick on the internet" is the best possible Louis quote ever.

It never ceases to amaze me how a people who expect exceptional sympathy because of how they were treated can then turn around and treat other people in much the same way.

I understand people wanting Louis to bring more focus to the Nakba in his documentary but I do think he did the right thing by just broadcasting these people’s beliefs and actions to the world. Their atrocities have been downplayed and that all falls apart when you actually hear them speak.

The striking thing to me about the settlers is their unshakeable conviction that they are right. They are the chosen people, this land is theirs to occupy or use as they wish. They can't entertain even the slightest softening of that belief, it's just incompatible with their reality. This is a common human trait but this group or movement are on the extreme end. I've always been suspicious of people who seem absolutely certain like that, I think it's a red flag.

I  have to say Louie Theroux is ( in my view)  one of the most respected  thorough and gifted documentary  producers i have ever experienced, Thankful for people like you Louie,

I admire Louis enormously, as someone who shows "Man's inhumanity to Man" (and women and animals), whilst being quietly spoken and non-partisan. Is there anybody else out there?
