I remember hearing a theory that floating through space the bunker goes into a wormhole/cosmic distortion of some kind and somehow mutates Remina into the Hellstar. Said distortion also somehow throws her into a time slip or something and starts the story again.
Hence why the stuff the Hellstar does to the planet seems to coincide with every time Remina is in danger and she somehow miraculously survives each cataclysmic event.
Something to appreciate about this history Is how Itos uses the number 4 here.
In japanese, 4 Is pronounced similar to the word death; and from the beginning of this manga, the number appears spelling the doom of mankind unknowingly.
Man, one thing this manga does to me that no other Junji Ito manga does is make me feel a mix of anger and sadness because I know what it's like to be blamed for everything when one has not done a damn thing to deserve such blame. I cannot imagine how it would feel to be blamed for the destruction of an entire planet over a father discovering what he thought was a planet and naming it after her. An entire planet of damned souls blaming someone just as damned as them for something completely out of her control. Horrifying.
Side note: Depending on the circumstances, if they survived in that bunker long enough to crash land into a habitable planet, what's the likelihood they'd survive the crash and how likely would they not only survive living on the new planet but dodge the "planet" Remina? If they managed to repopulate, how would their descendants counter the "planet"? So many questions... lol
The president of Reminas fanclubs behavior kills me. ..He beats her, whips the shit outta her, literally tried killing her repeatingly all while saying how much he loves her ...like...dude!! .... The fuck is wrong with u!?
