i would love to have a spin off where Mai is happy and in a safe place 😭😭

To be fair I think this IS actually straight-up torture p*rn. Like, unironically, for people who have an extreme gore kink!
Not to say that you can't criticize it as a story, but I think it's like most p*rn: a little set dressing with maybe some allusions to a story, that only exists to give a justification for the carnal scene

I think Miyako is meant to be a sort of representation of the reader/the types of people who are into ero-guro/the og manga. Miyako loves Mai because Mai is someone she can use to inact all her deepest darkest fucked up fantasies on to, and from what i gathered at least, is kinda why ero-guro as a genre even exists

One of the many reasons I have issues with Mai-chan is that it's just violent shock for the sake of having violent shocking things. And when you remove that you're left with nothing, because that's the only reason for it existing. Mai-chan has a interesting premise, an immortal girl who reincarnates herself while geting put in brutal and violent situations, which could have been more than just torture porn.

This could have been a story about Mai who not only has immortal powers, but also doesn't feel any pain or emotions whatsoever. So during her 'services' she has to act that she's in pain for the clients while she doesn't feel a single cut or stab that's done to her. Other time, she slowy begins to have feelings for the head maid bit by bit, until the head maid is dismissed from her job and leaves. Mai, losing the one person she's grown close to, begins to feel the most powerful amout of pain from her 'heartbreak' and through this she loses her immortal/reincarnation powers but gains the ability to feel. She leaves for her love and tells them how she really feels, they kiss, happily ever after.

"disgusting, vile and unreadable"

My golden retriever ass: "can't be that bad surely" * reads*

"....what have I done...."

I read this manga during my young college years. I was at my curious guro stage... fck the last chapter. Check the artist's hard drive. I had nightmares about it and it makes me irrationally angry to even think this manga's name. If anyone is curious on guro, start with Junji Ito and Shintaro Kago.

Also, I studied ero guro as a genre, it's not hentai and I wish we made this distinction because there are classic novels that fall under the category. Ero guro non sensu is "erotic grotesque nonsense"  not "erotic gore", any form of morbid and perverse sexually bizarre works can fall under this term, junior ito has multiple stories that can fit on this genre, there is a lot of amazing manga like lychee light club that falls under this genre, do not think it's all bad just because of one guy that made pornographic gore and people who bunched it with an actual japanese literary artistic movement that was deeply influential on their culture. The oldest work of ero guro is about 100 years old yall

Same guy that made the Junko Furuta manga btw

I got trolled on an anime forum being promised this was an "Adult spinoff of Cardcaptor Sakura" then the site the manga was hosted on imploded my Chrome tabs with malware. What an introduction.

I could be wrong but I'm also pretty sure this is the same mangaka that made the manga about Furuta Junko

Imagine my shock as I brought this manga up to my friend who is about to get married and is 30 as a "I doubt she will recognize this" and she goes "oh I read that".

I never read this shit, she is awesome

i read this in about middle school cause i thought i was so cool and gore-y things were so cool, i think it was reading this that broke my idealization of sex and violence and all the things the responsible adults in my life would shield my eyes from, it made me look at everything in a new light, i think it made me a better person, more empathetic, calmer, just, after blocking the worst of it out of my head

Whom else encountered this particular manga as a weeby teenager with unsupervised internet access 😔🤚

YEAHHHH THE REFRESH BLESSED ME !!!! i'm surprised i never heard of this before. you gave Mai-chan's Daily Life the same warning i give to most of my friends with Oyasumi Punpun.

after watching this video... holy fuck. i was repulsed as soon as you said Mai is a minor. Eroguro as a genre normally fascinates me and i wasn't expecting to be completed put off of a manga. if i had to describe the manga based off what you explained, i would say one word: *sickening*. every time you told us something downright evil, it would be followed by something more sinister. i looked into the author/mangaka Uziga Waita- which i can assume is a pen name due to it being similar to the phrase "the maggots have gushed forth" (蛆が湧いた). also... this is so, so much worse than Oyasumi Punpun is. good lord.

Saw the panels with the "politician baby blender" scenes on nhen' and it never left me. Also SpookyRice mentioned. 😮

Edit: can't remember if it was really a politician though the guy was dress in a suit so maybe

Bro I thought this video had more views considering the quality

we wish they took our eyes

i got introduced to this book through the movie adaptation and got traumatized 😭

Another great but disturbing vid! also first :)

Ah hell yeah gore time
