The collective gasp when the car door opened was great. You guys are like old women sometimes and it's hilarious. We are all old women sometimes when something is tough to witness/watch, especially when it's scary, but that moment was genuine and fun to watch.

the GASPS of the backseat scene

A love the little inconsistencies with Glady's story:
-How she introduces herself to Marcus as being the sister of Alex's mom, then when the dad is talking to Alex, he says Gladys is the aunt of Alex's mom.
-How she mentions walking across town to find Marcus's house, but when she leaves, we see that she drove there.
-Her saying to Alex that she hadnt seen him since he was a baby, even tho the parents mentioned that she hasnt seen them in 15 years, Alex is way younger than that.
I like the idea of her being an ancient witch that has survived this far by leeching off of different families, pretending to be "the super old relative that never interacted with anyone in the family", i doubt Gladys is her real name, her mentioning tuberculosis shows us how old she is.

Josh Brolin is a bully - just like his son. This is why Justin Long flinched as he approached him and his wife wasn't keen to allow him into the house to review the footage alone.

Everyone is wary of him 🤔🇬🇧

Something I love about this movie is just how smart Alex is in a believable kid way. He makes choices that child me and average child horror movie protagonists would never have even thought of.
The stealing of name tags from cubbies instead of meticulously sneaking up to every classmate to grab something was genius. Being able to think well enough under pressure to turn Gladys’s powers against her. Being able to unfortunately pull up his big boy pants and take care of not only his parents, but his entire class. Being able to keep all of this hidden for an extended period of time.
That child is the most competent member in the story and it doesn’t get talked about nearly enough.

I think one of the craziest realizations is that not a single person involved knows the full extent of the story

I love how you guys were like "Justine is the common denominator of the missing kids!"
Except so is Alex. But of course nobody will suspect him. I love this movie

James breaks into the house because of all the newspapers laying in the driveway. If you go on vacation, always put your mail and your newspapers deliveries on hold, you don't want it stacking up.

LMAO 16:45 the continuous “ohh” is freaking hilarious

There is NO excuse for a cop to assault someone. Especially someone who they already have detained. I understand that he was pricked with a syringe and flipped out but the fact he even flipped out means he doesn't have the temperament or training to be a cop. Add to that how his segment opens up with us finding out he is 100% a liar doesn't bode well for him as a person.

I think the reason the mother Archer spoke to didn't want to share info is because he was being very angry and reactive, publicly. They made a point of showing the father was afraid of him, and how irrational he was being in the school meeting. I think they meant for us to understand that she didn't trust him to act in a way that would ultimately benefit their child ... he was a loose cannon.

Saw this in a packed theater and the whole place gasped when that car door opened

The wife is side-eyeing the husband not because she is trying to move on, but because Archer is portrayed as an overly righteous, bullish person who is probably not well liked. He has a great house, a well-established business, and it looks like he has a bit of influence in the community, but when he interacts with others they do not greet him with warmth or friendliness. And Justine is not a perfect person, but there is zero evidence that she is behind the children’s disappearance. It’s just a coincidence that it happens to be her classroom, but he yells at her in public, accuses her and it’s heavily implied he is the one who painted “witch” on her car. He can’t even say, “I love you” to his son. And as we go along we see that his child, Matthew, is a bully. I wonder where he learned that behavior(not being sarcastic towards you guys, because I love your reactions, just asking sincerely).

Not to say that Archer is a bad person, or that his grief and confusion isn’t warranted. Like all the main characters he’s written with more complexity than that. And his character does go on quite the arc. It’s great that Cregger wrote all the characters like actual people. I feel like if this was a Netflix feature film, there would be a scene where Archer overtly bullies an employee or someone says something along the lines of, “If you hadn’t been such a jerk in high school, etc., etc.” But this movie actually treats its audience with respect and doesn’t hold our hand through its runtime.

Why? Pretty sure Archer is/was the town bully. He's also raising his son to be bully. He can't tell him he loves him. We see Matthew bully Alex. It's why Justin Long reacts the way he does and his wife doesn't want to help him.

You guys mentioned a couple times that Justine is the only common denominator. She's not the only one...Alex is too.

Fun fact: the main kid chasing Gladys is NOT a child actor. She’s an adult “small person” who does stunt acting for child characters. I had to know so I jumped down the rabbit hole!

23:47 You have to try and understand that everyone is suspicious of everyone else.  She probably was thinking "what if this dude did it and he's trying to see if there's anything on their camera that incriminates him". Something like that.

The PTA meeting, the demands for her incarceration until she confess, Donna trying to burn her in the liquor store.
It is all a witch hunt.
The witch is someone else

The gasps are so GOOD 😂😂😂😂

8:06 I love how they made Justine's character. She's a good teacher she's very caring but she's only human and has her flaws she copes with issues by drinking copious amounts of vodka, she makes poor decisions when it comes to men. Far too often people think teachers are these holier than thou people and they have issues just like everyone else
