Koichi: Telling Jotaro about Giorno’s stand
Jotaro: So it’s the same type of stand as Star Platinum.
Koichi: What?
Jotaro: Creates a dolphin

“Maybe it was puberty”

Ha everyone knows Jotaro hit puberty at 2

Jotaro: So you're telling me, that your stand can now rewrite story?
Dio:Yes, why would you as--
Jotaro:Thanks for the new ability

"So it's the same type of stand as Star Platinum" is basically "Your next line is" but with steroids...

Holly : Jotaro was such a sweet heart when he was a child !
Alessi : No. He was not.

They’re the same stand cause Jotaro was pissed

Thats how the mafia works

Kira: Killer Queen's ability is that it can-

Jotaro: So it's the same type of stand as Star Platinum

*Blows up Kira*

Enemy Stand ability: exists
Jotaro: This will make a fine addition yo my collection

Dio:
Joseph:
Hierophant Green: shoots a clock tower
Kakyoin: Beat the world, my final message. Goodbye.

Any stand user can use [T H E  W O R L D] if they have the n- word pass.  Dio got his from Pucci and Jotaro was given his post humorously by Abdul's spirit.

Jotaro before: "Normal avarage anime character"

Jotaro after a few years: "BUFFED AS HECK"

Josuke: So your stand is the same as Crazy Diamond?
Kira: Wait, what?
Josuke: Resets time and saves himself in the storm.

Giorno: Gold Experience Requiem is a world altering stand with almost infinite power

Jotaro: So it’s the same type of stand as star platinum

So Jotaro’s stand is basically Star Warudo: Bites The Crimson Love Train Made In Heaven Act 4 Requiem Overdrive Over Heaven Done Dirt and Wet

My theory is that Star Platinum's ability originally wasn't to stop time at all, its to copy or counter the one stand ability he absolutely can not beat, might seem a bit random, but hear me out. Most stands, when awakened (or evolved in case of Echoes and Tusk) have a power that allows them to do what they need most at that moment or at that point in their life, but Jotaro couldn't possibly know what power he needed because he didn't know what power Dio had, hell, he didn't even know about Dio at the time of his stands awakening. He needed to be able to beat Dio no matter what power he had, so Star Platinum's ability needed to be the most adaptable (as you mentioned about the adaptability symbolism) ability possible, which would be copying or countering, this makes even more sense when you realize how long it took for Star Platinum to reveal his actual special ability, because stopping time wasn't his ability at all, until he met Dio and realized what The World does and that not much else could beat it other then his own ability. Also, while its not cannon, in EoH, Star Platinum Copies the world yet again.

Kira: "I will kill you jotato"
Jotaro: "hmm star platinum and killer queen are similar stands"
Jotaro blows up Kira

Joseph: I have hermit purple , a pretty cool stand.
DIO : lol,  me too and it sucks my stand THE WORLD is much better it can stop time.
Jotaro: lol, me too

Everyone's Gucci until DIO screams "Za finga!!"

Jotoaro and Dio were meant to kick each others asses so they need the same stand

Something just occurred to me. Jotaro's personality involves a lot of adapting on the fly, finding the winning scenario out of an impossible situation. Adaptability and cleverness are the cornerstones of his fighting style. But The World could only be defeated by another time stopping stand. We assume that star platinum could always stop time and Jotaro didn't realize, but what if Star Platinum's real hidden power was to adapt, just like Jotaro, and once it came face to face with a Time Stopping stand the only adaptation it could pull out to fight back was to BECOME a time stopping stand. And then after that, it doesn't really need to adapt any further because, as said before, time stopping stands are busted.
Unless you count the game, where Star Platinum meets an even more busted version of the World and copies its ability again, not because "Star Platinum is the same type of stand" but because when pushed to its absolute limits, Star Platinum, like Jotaro, adapts to survive impossible situations.
