Release the Valetine files

Kinda crazy how Valentine will be a more socially relevant villain when the anime comes out than he was at the time of release. Araki always saw politicians for what they were and depicted the two faced nature perfectly through Valentine

Valentine is literally a villain that is convinced that he's the protagonist. He's fascinating because almost manages to convince even the reader that his intentions are noble, when in reality, like every other Jojo villain, they're selfish in nature

Jesus takes all sin on himself to free the world from it, while Valentine puts all calamity on the world to free his nation from it. Johnny's story is about gaining a cross and learning how to carry it, while Valentine's story is about throwing the cross onto other people.

You know a villain is well written when they are able to literally manipulate the readers into thinking they're a good person

Remember when Valentine stuck a poor train driver between 2 dimensions with a piece of glas keeping em apart, only staying alive by keeping the train going?
yeah, thats what a good guy would do

I think people need to distinguish between “I understand/empathize with this character” and “this character is morally in the right”

And that’s what I like about Araki writing of his final villains — they do what they believe in, no matter how wrong they are. Because of how many mistakes they’ve made, their hearts have become blind and dark, with a strong sense of self-importance and a desire to play the role of the savior. But it’s not random, they’re often favored by luck, like finding a mysterious fruit or a holy body part first. So instead of being evil just for the sake of it, there’s still a weak and beautiful human side with interesting thinking that makes us connect with them, understand them a little, or even be deceived by them, despite a part of hypocrisy. This shows Araki’s brilliance in his writing.

Araki wrote a politician so well they convinced people their intended horrific actions were justified and good.
Honestly 10/10 writing

he's a politician... that's enough evidence for me

remember when Valentine looked down on Diego Brando for being poor.

He was NEVER a good man.

(plus, you know, all the betryals and murder)

> "he had a good and noble motivation but his methods were wrong"
> look inside
> genuinely evil motivation

If some of y'all are getting fooled by a fictional cartoon villain, im genuinely scared how succeptible you are to REAL propaganda

You know Eyes of Heaven was carrying this “Funny Valentine was a Good Guy” on it’s shoulders.

calling valentine a hero in any capacity is wild, especially considering what he did to lucy steel...

His stand name is literally his personality Dirty Deeds done for Cheap

"Valentine did nothing wrong" is a shorthand for "Just because Valentine looked down on the poor, thought that democracy was inferior to one person ruling over everyone, didn't care for his subordinates or his own wife getting killed on his behalf despite his supposed love of American people, tried to rape a 14-year-old, broke his promises even if they were swore on his father's memento, was willing to destroy all other nations in the world with continued misfortune, and put his own ego over his supposedly altruistic plan's success doesn't mean that he wasn't a good guy."

And the worst part is that some people genuinely mean that.

salvation and protection at the cost of innocent lives elsewhere will never be "Justice"

"Reads above a fifth grade level" got me bawling

Funny and Johnny fit almost perfectly into the parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector.

Funny is incredibly self-righteous in his beliefs of being a man chosen by the heavens to allow him to do sinful acts as long as it’s for his nation despite it actually being for his kingdom essentially.

Johnny is a very flawed individual even after his character development- being self aware of his selfishness, pride, and not heroic qualities that left him crippled. Yet he ultimately becomes a man who learns to open himself to others again and do things that benefit humanity as a whole while expecting no reward for it.

but i thought his heart and actions were utterly unclouded :(
