the fact this mod has progression despite it being a horror mod really makes it feel as though a regular minecraft mod got corrupted by something evil and for that I love it.

Death animation is such a novel idea for minecraft, I really want this mod released

thank you for actually making a video analyzing the mod instead of putting a "this mod made me pee my pants" title over a lets play video

25:15 "liminal ways" are 100% a reference to wooden "cities", a screenshot of a minecraft world that went viral
they look great in alpha!

22:53 Interesting fact: Decaworker Sprout chirps when it senses a treasure nearby, so there is at least something that makes it easier to find em

0:47 i genuinely fucking screamed with laughter when i heard the nothing there sound 😭😭😭

1:20, Umbrellaman is a reference to The Umbrella Man from the Interloper ARG. Even the sound effect is taken from one of the episodes, not sure which one but it's supposedly the sound that a massive head entity makes in a counter strike demo file called "officehead".

There seems to be alot of inspiration from white knuckle:
- The Ladder Arcade dimension and its accompanying flood entity is a direct reference to white knuckles infinite ladder and mass
- the sprout item appears to have a similar design and purpose to the worker bloodbugs
- infected hook shares a similar design and ability to the barnacle hook artifact

12:17 what a thrill

Big fan of the variety of entities and the death animations, it reminds me a lot of Spooky’s Jumpscare mansion. Also the catacombs are genuinely terrifying as a maze you have to CRAWL through.

00:50 sounds fammiliar...oddly like "nothing there" from lobotomy corporation with same sound of "i love you" when it uses someone to mimick

I really love this horror mod. It gives minecraft a unique feeling that no other quirky horror mod ever did

@admiral8bit 1 month ago

Still a victim of a lot of the horror mod issues that sadly plagues Minecraft don't get me wrong, but with that said I appreciate how the person who made this one seems to genuinely care about making it more interesting. I love their sketchy death animations idea for example haha.

15:53 Kolossos definitely to me has the most gnarly death animation

12:07 Ladder feels like a big reference to an indie climbing horror game called "White Knuckle." In that game, there is a secret zone you can access that is also called "the Ladder," and has you climbing up a ladder with jumps across gaps you need to make just like in this mod (the sound used for the lunge is even the same as the double jump sound in that game) except the big threat there is your dwindling stamina bar. And if you fall, there's another threat that makes itself present in later sections of the Ladder.

9:50 So to see him you have to follow the sound he make in it. He's very slowly so you can approach him whenever you hear his sound.

Fully animated death scenes are super neat

@sonic_exe2312 1 month ago (edited)

What was surprising is that the sounds for some of the death scene and effects are from Cry of Fear.
Also the combo with the grapling hook and the elytra was quite fun to fly around.
