I apologize for the 2 times that i annoyingly mispronounced a word and then corrected myself for 3 seconds the video essayer spirit possessed me like Michael Huang with Oddcard

removing rooms and adding archives has to be the best thing doors couldve done to sepperate itself from this

"Doors wins by doing nothing"

RLD:

-> makes an entity that makes a game less scarier than its supposed to
-> deletes entity
-> readds entity being publicly executed
-> game fucking rots

DOORS:

-> allows you to crucify a literal child and an innocent rat
-> nothing ever happens

me spontaneously watching the replies get mad at me because they cant pick up a toy horse or get lucky:

the multi-monster will return in avengers doomsday

I remember making videos on these games SO long ago, I actually had no idea how bad the state of this community was. Mainly because I never bothered to join any of the Discord servers. Really great video 👍

I've grown a comically large grey beard waiting for this moment

Delusional office will always be one of my fav games and ill glaze it any day of the week

Im glad you talked about Rooms. I'm like one of the biggest fans of Rooms in general. I've been with it since the dawn of time, and im never leaving, no matter what hell this fandom goes through.

I remember being part of this fandom, it was so long ago that I forgot most of it. It was honestly like a fever dream.
(Also peak Yume Nikki avatar)

wow, this feels like brushing off dust off of an old book. this video fucking takes me back and i remember being there to see nearly everything go down. it feels so bizarre to look back now that its already happened. it's been so many years. i wholeheartedly believe that it was the fandom's young community (aka immaturity) that was the main reason for its downfall. all the drama that happened was so unnecessarily polarizing because of an impressionable fanbase, and that basically everything couldve been handled so much easier if not...

but to say that nothing good came from this community is disingenuous. i never really engaged with anyone, but i recognize the creativity that this genre has drawn out. sick ass monster designs, game developers, cool art, whatever else i didnt name

i doubt if i'll ever come back to this community, but i thank you forb for taking the history of this community to make this video. rooms has ended up as a  piece of me, and i realized i needed to take a moment to reflect on what was

i used to be a friend of noonie and he was an awful, annoying, insufferable person to be around
I dont wanna get into exactly what he did because i have no proof and i think its better for that to stay indoors as he was a dumb child who didnt know any better and i dont wanna start anything.
If i were to guess why he is how he is i think its because of the people he sorrounded himself with, his circle was full of equally edgy wild-west internet-esque people who thought sending shock content and slinging slurs was something funny.
I still havent gotten an apology for the weird shit he involved my friends with and the years worth of petty insignificant drama he has caused involving me, its quite fascinating to find a video covering the expose on him in more detail, because i was definitely missing alot of important context

This video is honestly really accurate, the rooms community was fun while it lasted but its own community consistently tore it to shreds, I do miss the good old days I can’t lie.

It’s really hard for any game in this genre to stay out of drama huh? Spooky’s and Doors seem untouched, but you see the other end of the the spectrum with Grace, Rooms, and Pressure,

With grace it was several accounts of racism and homophobia that eventually lead to the game being discontinued,

Rooms, you’re watching this video you know what this is about.

And with pressure, you can really see how FALSE allegations can almost ruin a passion project.

But there’s two sides to every coin, with every bad, comes a good, and while I can’t find examples for any of these games to provide something good coming out of these situations, i can say that there will be something good made, or done by the community.

I think this is when a fandom turns against themself

Ngl, as a big Rooms fan, I got shocked by how fast the fandom dissapeared.

Addressing the whole situation with Bugggs - I feel that even though I can’t forgive him fully for his actions and what he’s said, he has expressed deep regret and guilt for what he’s said, but also come to terms that  he did what he did and there’s no full forgiveness in store. I think it should also be noted he was ab extremely young individual furthermore dealing with trust issues and the untreated aftershocks that were the community turning on him and harassing him in the BB-5’s initial deletion

Overall, I agree I can’t forgive him fully, but I think we should at least try to understand how he got there, and his journey towards maturity

Great video!

I remember when I first joined this community. I was young and impressionable, and I happened to see a gameplay video of IR back when it was called A Rooms Fangame. This community impacted me massively for a good 2 years if not longer, and it's crazy I got to see all the updates, dramas and such all up until the community fell apart.

It's a bummer it's dying. I'd love to see it popular again. It just feels so quiet right now.

Tbh rooms fangames like IR were not scary, but they were unnerving at times. Dying meant you lose all your progress. I'm REALLY paranoid and I don't think I ever got through an entire section of a rooms game alone despite being a really big fan.

I was also gonna make a ton of IR videos once the game became public again to try and manually save this community to the best of my abilities, though the recent Roblox updates really screwed me over (the age estimation thing sucked, it severely underestimated my age and I don't even know if I can play IR right now). The community was just cool when it wasn't at drama and it does feel emptier without it. So I hope it revives someday.

It genuinely just feels wild. The community went through so much and I was there to witness it. And now that's kinda far in the past? Sheesh.

I've actually been working on a Rooms game on Scratch for quite some time. It's not even finished and it's over half a gigabyte? Well any Rooms stuff to come out is good for this community lol

Sorry for paragraph, this video's editing is really cool, it covers the community and its history well. Generational stuff. I hope you keep this up! (Also this kinda motivates me to stay in this community furthermore lol)

i miss this fandom so much g i had so much fun here. i was genuinely so happy being apart of this community, with creating fangames being my favourite thing to do in the community, i had so much fun doing so.

It's like explaining rooms game to a person who's never seen one before and asking them to make one
