It was the first basho I ever followed. As a Ukrainian, I started rooting for Aonishiki and Shishi. But eventually, I switched to rooting for everybody. I didn't see any rikishi worth being hated. From now on, I'm officially addicted to Sumo and wish the best to all the rikishi :) They are so much more decent sportsmen than soccer players...

安青錦関、新大関として優勝おめでとうございます。

The dead body rule can be confusing. I've seen a few instances where judges had to get together and discuss it. From what I understand, it basically means that no matter what a wrestler does while he's in the air, there's zero chance of him recovering in any way within the ring. Even if his opponent touches the ground first in an attempt to brace himself to avoid more serious injury.

Дякую що показали всі бої Данила !!!

決勝戦の決まりては首投げの発表です〜安青錦の下手ひねりと首投げの鮮やかな合わせ技で綺麗に決まっています。

Congrats Aonishiki!

I love how like in day 3, the way Aonishiki helped Ichiyamamoto to not fall out of the Dohyo. Small moments like this really make me like him more.

安青錦関、優勝おめでとう！大関昇進後の難しい場所を精神力と技術で勝ち取った素晴らしい相撲でした！これからもウクライナの皆さんと共に応援していきます！

That was a memorable tournament. Aonishiki came back several times from a few disappointing matches. His easy loss to Onosato dropped him out of the lead into a tie with Atamifuji. The following day, however, he showed nerves of steel as he pushed out Kotozakura to gain a tiebreaker with Atamifuji, who was well rested after his much earlier bout. Atamifuji looked more powerful at the outset as he gradually drove Aonishiki to the edge. Then like a flash of lightning, Aonsihiki pulled with his right inside grip on Atamifuji's mawashi while grabbing and pushing Atamifuji's head with his left arm, twisting the much heavier behemoth onto his back onto the doho. It was victory pulled from the jaws of defeat! Aonsihiki proved that he is no fluke. He is a two time champion! Congratulations to him and all his many fans!

1:40 i like moment when Ichiyamamoto is surprised and Onosato because he's keeping eye out on Aonishiki. Onosato has won all matches against him, but he knows that he needs to be cautious so he won't get thrown off or pushed out too easily

Some coincidence, Ohtani in America and Aonishiki in Japan.

Aonishiki 🙏💪🇺🇦🇯🇵♥️

Great show.

Good luck! The main thing is to achieve consistent success like Mongolian sumo wrestlers.

aonishiki the GOAT!!!!! rooting from israel!!

That little shimmy to the left by Aonishiki against Onosato was immediately fatal. He moved right into Onosato's right hand thrust. Aonishiki has to think of something better to start the fight with less momentum.

Молодець

Thank you @TheMawashiShow for these wonderful videos. I love Atamifuji but it's fun to watch Aonishiki style of sumo.
