The Blues Brothers started as a skit on Saturday Night Live in the 70’s

A lot of the artists featured in this movie were kind of in slow periods of their careers, and this movie helped get them in front of new eyes. Aretha, James Brown, John Lee Hooker, Ray Charles had not had hits in years, and Cab Calloway was semi-retired. They all had a certain amount of career revitalization in the 1980's after this. This movie was mostly an excuse for Belushi and Ayckroyd to hire their musical heroes.

I think you missed John Lee Hooker..."Boom Boom Boom Boom"

103 cars were destroyed in this movie, approximately 60 to 73 of the vehicles destroyed were either real decommissioned police cars or were painted and modified to look like them. The most ever. Giving the Blues Brothers the unofficial title. A record that still stands to this day!

I always thought that was a fun piece of trivia!

‘We’re on a Mission from God!’

All the band are actually musicians,  very famous ones , so many stars make cameos in this movie

One famous person you might have missed was a choir soloist in the church scene at the beginning. She only got a second or two of screen time...but that was, indeed, Chaka Khan!

Steve Lawrence in the sauna scene. For those of you younguns he was a singer and sometimes did duets with his wife Eydie Gormie
