That looping bug only happens on Saturn emulators. The original Saturn plays the tracks correctly and even picks up where it left off when you get an invincibility or speed shoe. Using an emulator like Ymir with low level CD Block enabled will give you the best experience.

Another thing worth mentioning is the typical loading time on a real Saturn is insanely slow, up to 1 minute per level.

Some of the songs in the Saturn version of 3D Blast have been used in Sonic Speed Simulator, mainly Green Grove Acts 1 & 2 and Rusty Ruins Act 2 was used at one point. The title theme on SSS also uses the Generations remix of the 3D Blast Saturn title theme that also includes a part of You’re My Hero, the credits theme from 3D Blast Saturn.

8:50 Codingsecrets has a lovely video about how they got FMVs on the Genesis cartridge

note: several tracks in 16-Bit Blast are actually keyboard presets, which I find amusing

16:37 I was so disappointed when I got all the emeralds as a kid and didn't unlock super sonic.

Sonic 3D Blast (as well as the Sonic Christmas Blast special) will be celebrating its 30th anniversary this holiday season.

I really liked playing Sonic 3D Flickies' Island back in 1996 on my Mega Drive.
The soundtrack is great and I was pleasantly surprised some tracks were reused in Sonic Adventure.

“Here we go again.”

I think Sonic 3D blast is still better than Sonic Xtreme would have been, as much I would have loved to see that game finished. It was just far too ambitious and the fish eye lens is a bad idea. But man, what an incredible experience Sonic Adventure was. It was worth the wait.

Smooth sonic vs Rough 3D

For all its flaws I genuinely like playing through 3D Blast

3d blast is peak

it’s real sad that instead of getting sonic xtreme, we got 3d blast on the saturn
at least the enhancements are nice and the different special stage is probably one of the best in the franchise

Sonic 3d blast is pretty much sonic labyrinth but with 10x better gameplay, but that doesn’t mean it’s good

I'm glad to see another video from you!

Sonic 3D Blast is X-tremely slippery and I think it's mid. Luckily there is the director's cut version which adds Super and other stuff!

crazy how this channel doesn't have more subscribers, your videos are soo good!

11:14 I love the transition you did there by the way. Also I believe Garden Grove on the 32-bit version of the game is used again in Sonic generations when you play those side levels are you team up with a buddy. It just sounds updated and upgraded in Sonic generations.

A great video from you for sure.

You can emulate the Tiger LCD version. Time for round 8, son!
