Therapist in the comments as requested! That mother had kids so she could show off her kids. She had kids so she could engineer lives for them. Many parents do this. The problem is that kids are people and they develop their own personalities. When mom realized her daughters wanted to make their own decisions instead of parroting her exactly, she decmpensated which is to say regressed to a lower level of functioning. In her case, that of a toddler.

We’re like 2 minutes in and I’m already confused. Can you imagine marrying someone who doesn’t want photos of your family at your wedding 😭 they’re gonna keep you and your kids from your family. That’s so sad and I hope the brother isn’t a doormat

My grandmother controlled every aspect of my mothers wedding due to her being 17 and needing permission to wed my 18yo father who was being deployed overseas and could only bring a wife with him. My mother told us often how much she and father hated it and bluntly promised "I'm going to help you have whatever wedding you want to have" and she stood by those words and supported all three of us

I was the maid of honor at a wedding. The sister was a bridesmaid and was pissed she wasn't the maid of honor. During the wedding, the sister was loudly criticizing the entire church wedding, everyone at the front of the church, including the bride, could hear her. I leaned over and I thought whispered a threat to her that if she didn't shut up I was going to make her shut up. She got scared and shut up the rest of the wedding and reception. Fast forward, I apparently was not as quiet as I thought and the videographer caught my threat on the wedding video. I apologized to the couple profusely. They said why apologize, they were grateful for my intervention and thought it was hilarious.

My grandmother passed away the morning of my cousin's wedding. As a whole, my family decided to keep that information from my cousin and didn't tell her until the day after. Of course, at first, she was upset, but understood why we made that decision.

My son recently got married to his gorgeous lady. During all the planning I asked 'Anything you want me to do?', apart from 2 sewing projects that they asked me to do, that was it. I never asked or pressured them into changing this, that or whatever. Never demanded that Great Aunt Bettys third cousin was invited. Their day, their choices, their rules. They organised everything themselves and the day was totally theirs, right down to the bouncy castle. Yep, it was a wedding with a difference and it was soooo much fun. I will never understand why parents think it's their right to interfere with wedding plans.

That first story.. yeah my niece didn’t even invite any one apart from her dad from our side of the family, NOT ONE of us, Not even her own grandmother, but still asked us all for money instead of a gift… she got sweet FA from all of us

10:40 Exactly! As the oldest daughter of my big family I was always painted as the crazy or rebellious black sheep and no one believed me. It was only when she treated my siblings and their spouses like me and ruined their weddings that they finally saw it and apologized. Lol 😂 Nothing is more satisfying than having both the Golden Child and the Keep the Peace sibling apologize for not believing you. 😎
