Rediscovering: Dead & Buried (1981)

In the small town of Potter's Bluff the sheriff is trying to solve the murders of some tourists, while the victims appear to be returning to life!

Directed by Gary Sherman, scripted by the writers of Alien and with effects by Stan Winston, it's a classic slice of 80s horror.

Back in the early 2000s, my dear aunt (RIP) and I were introduced to Dead & Buried by saying at the same time: “Is that Grandpa Joe?!” Yep! Jack Albertson. Discovering this is a favorite memory of mine, so I’m all for rediscovering it!

You 2 should be on telly. Love your passion & take on these under the radar gems. I swear I saw this movie before but can't recall anything from it. Think I need to watch Dead & Buried again

I remember Pearl & Dean from watching films as a kid in the 80s.

Glad I did watch it again. Terrific horror film. Some dodgy acting at times but a great concept

Saw this in the theater. We got carded going in. The lady selling tickets said don't watch this movie. The whole movie my buddy on my left kept saying oh my God! Overall terrifying movie.

Really decent flick which I rediscovered on dvd in 2009, great story and decent gore.
A bit dated perhaps but they knew how to make movies then.

This movie really felt like something that should have been a TV show episode/TV Movie sort of like The Outer Limits/ Twilight Zone/Torchwood.

Like, if it was an hour or 50 minute episode it would have been tighter and impacted more, but then I guess that wouldn't have been able to do the more shocking and gruesome moments. I found the premise ran out of steam because of the 'We know the town are bad but the police don't' tropes started coming into play.

It was still very well done in terms of effects and style.

Have to thank you guys what a great review as always. Can I put a request in? Could you review Ghost Story (1981) please? Crazily now ignored by Terrestrial TV but some great performances by the likes of Fred Astaire, Melvyn Douglas, John Houseman, Douglas Fairbanks Jr and of course Alice Krige - in one of her early film roles. Thanks.
