Curating a physical media collection I love

As much as I've been enjoying collecting physical media, I also want to make sure I'm being intentional. I'm only making space for beauty and joy, and I don't want to fall into the trap of accumulating more clutter. I still haven't decided on a storage solution for the VHS tapes and DVDs, so hoping you guys can help me! 🙏

Which media storage solution do you think works best?! 📼

I’m way way too invested now in this freaking retro nook

So the nook became the room hahah. I love it.

This is the reason the 80s had full wall entertainment centers with cabinet doors. Since you are going retro, you might want to take a trip down 80's street...

I think a 90s/00s entertainment center cabinet might be the way to go for storage of all devices and media.

As someone with a retro collection i have bit of advice. You said aesthetic was important to u when u started this series. The more devices u add the more difficult that will be come. My suggestion would be to plan out how much u think you might be collecting. You guys are adding consoles left and right along with more dvds and eventually you’ll start to accumulate too much and end up have to get different furniture to accommodate each time. So plan ahead and then figure out the layout depending on how much stuff u plan to collect

I love the lip syncing over screwing into the concrete :)

This will be the retro house before we know it 😊😂

I've been following this journey and I think the thing that stands out is that the TV stand you're using... is too small. It worked for a retro "nook", but now that the CRT and gaming consoles are the focal point of the room, you need something bigger that has alot more storage space for all the game consoles, DVDs, VHS, game cartridges, etc. The small TV stand is getting lost in the room and its fighting with the clutter for dominance 😅

I’ve been loving this series, in large part because in 2020, my wife and I had the same impulse of “hey, let’s get this little 14 inch tv/vhs combo for a giggle” and five years later our nook is ridiculous with several crts and an arcade cabinet. It’s nice to see someone else spiraling into retro collecting mania. If nothing else, there are much worse vices one could have. :)

The Xbox Classic has an Adapter with remote and you can use DVDs on it but it can hard to find. Cost maybe 5-15 Dollars

The goofy movies are so nostalgic to me I wish I had it on VHS now lol

very valiant attempt to get the n64 controller to fit in the controller tower 😂

@michaeldubjuk7769 8 months ago

I think the combination of option 1 and 2 is most practical

8:10 Lucky for you, you already have an Xbox that can also play DVDs! You can buy an official Xbox remote+receiver set for it so that you can operate it just like a normal DVD player! You just plug the receiver into one of the controller ports and you’re good to go! Cheers

Hey, why don't you move the cat climber to where the nook origionally was? This would leave an extra corner for an organic style cabinate you can use as more media storage!

For the new dvd player that red and white port that say aux in is the audio you need wires for that

@HeyPatch 8 months ago

@ 16:05 the red and white plugs under the "video out" are your AUDIO out (RED right channel) (White left channel). your TV should also have yellow white and red plugs on it. good luck, hope this helps.
