What is everyone's favorite physical media? Give me all the DVD, books, and gaming recs!!

Using the library is 100% not bending the rules and you perfectly explain why.
1. It’s free
2. They are loans so they only temporarily take up space
3. It advertises libraries and that needs to happen more

Physical media will always be king. Tried looking for a movie on streaming yesterday. It was nowhere. When I looked at my shelf, I realized I already owned it. Win win

Thats why collecting physical media is important, because if you have a ton of movies you enjoy you can easily step away from streaming take breaks and watch stuff off your shelf when you want. Also special features are a life saver documentaries interviews etc

I canceled all my subscriptions. I was using them as something to do when I was bored. Physical media forces you to make a decision. When I feel like watching a movie I have to physically go to my collection and look it over and make a decision. I always feel more connected with what I’m watching when I make that decision myself and not just scroll through Netflix and watch what’s trending.

So… in a world full of smartphone zombies, a month without streaming is a “challenge”… we are so screwed

Libraries usually have a for sale rack so look out for that. Blurays/dvds and cds for a buck and books for mad cheap also.

Dont be afraid to ask the librarian about a book you want. They may be able to get it for the library if its not a book they have.

I started going to the gym about 5 times a week approximately a year ago and my media consumption (other than spotify) has dropped dramatically. The new activity boosted my mood, my stamina, and my self esteem. Just a suggestion for anyone who might be feeling a little discontent. Nothing wrong with media consumption, but we do sometimes need to add a new layer of activity to our lives.

Wierd times when you realize this actually being a valid challenge...

I've started replacing some of my tiktok and instagram doom scrolling with reading recently and its been a really nice change of pace. Sometimes having constant access to media like that can disconnect you from yourself and the world.

This is why I never bought into streaming

I have always been 110% physical media no matter what. In fact, my blu-ray collection is massive with over 500 titles

Streaming makes people lazy. They don't have to decide it's too much all at once. We quit streaming 2 years ago. All DVDs I find when we go thrifting. My children get excited because the movies are theirs to own forever, no removing it from the streaming list! Physical media will always make a comeback because it's real.

"I bought a bunch of 16tb drives and pirated all my media.  Here's what happened."  Should be the next video.

CDs! I miss the uniqueness of physical media. Nobody else's CD will scratch and stall out at this exact moment because I listened to track 10 too often, and I love it.

(I'm an older Millennial) It's a form of an addiction. A habit that cause numbness. Younger folks don't understand that bc they don't know anything else.
