I heard stories from people on glps realizing that, because they were eating so little, they had to make an effort to eat things with actual nutritional value. If you're eating 1200 calories a day of only empty garbage you really feel it. Before when they were eating 3000 calories of garbage, their body could scrape together enough micros to keep going.
I’ve lost weight too just by eating less and moving more. People think I’m on ozempic, as if I’m gonna spend $400 a month to lose weight in this economy.
America created an entire industry for hyperpalatable foods, and now they have an industry created to solve that problem. It's a level of dystopia that is unsettling, if not terrifying.
I’m someone who lost roughly 70 lbs the “old fashioned way”, hard work and lifestyle changes. I’m now at a point where people tell me I’m lucky to be slim and that it’s impossible for them because they have a slow metabolism or something. It really is as simple as eating less and move more. Heck, you don’t even have to eat less if you just eat a ton of fruits and veggies.
You’re hungry and have a sugar craving? 2 cups of grapes is only 120 calories and it WILL fill you up. They’re “sugar bombs” but it’s not refined sugar. It’s always a better choice to pick fruit over a highly processed snack.
To be fair, fast food/junk food is insanely expensive now. I’ve lost weight just by not being able to buy the food I used to. Also times are stressful right now which can also result in weight loss. I’m sure it’s a mixture of things.
Can’t even lose weight naturally anymore without someone thinking you took zempy. It’s INSANE. I lost 50 lbs after having a baby. It took me one year. 1lb a weekish. Healthy.
Pharmacy student here - there are side effects of the drugs that are worsened due to poor eating. You are supposed to avoid fatty and fried foods while taking the medication because it slows your gastric emptying and the food sits longer in your stomach. Therefore you will have horrible upset stomach and diarrhea if you keep eating unhealthy food or eat too much food. Muscle loss will happen if you are not eating correctly and not doing strength training. I have taken Zepbound myself and have never had a single side effect or muscle loss. I now do CrossFit 4-5 days a week and have lost 80 lbs in the last year. Has big pharma been profiting insane amounts of money— yes. But these drugs are a tool. You have to eat right and exercise to see the effect. Stop demonizing the drug. Demonize the people that refuse to take the drug correctly and think it’s a magic pill for weight loss and then blame the drug’s side effects when it “doesn’t work”.
When obesity is clinically proven to increase your risk of 13 types of cancers (including thyroid cancer), countless CV issues, respiratory issues, reproductive issues, liver issues, osteoarthritis, diabetes and its complications, and so many other health issues. GLP1s would genuinely have to cause turbo cancer or something to even come close.
It's easier to think about eating healthy when your not constantly starving, it's easier to exercise when your not so over weight and straining your heart.
People can't afford healthy food and a gym membership but have $1000/month for a shot??? My dad is on them and I see 1st hand how ridiculous it is. He still eats whatever he wants, gets violently ill, says he'll change, goes back to eating whatever he wants. Rinse and repeat. Just wait for the rise of lawsuits from them
I know there's a lot of hype around these new weight loss drugs, but I genuinely believe a large chunk of it boils down to the sheer drop in quality and increase in price for fast food. McDonald's doesn't even have a dollar menu anymore and a normal meal can go up to 15+ and not even be good. It's much harder to be fat when it costs so much to maintain it 😂
"Food noise is not true" - said by someone without food noise. It's like me saying that depression is not true, because I don't have it. Just smile and be happy, right?
I am a part of the number of people who aren't obese anymore. I didn't use GLP-1. A TON of people decided to stop being obese in 2025. I'm nearly a normal weight myself. More and more people are realizing that it's not okay to be obese.
Long ago I made choices to engineer exercise into my life. Got rid of the car and bought a bunch of bicycles for every need. Got a manual reel mower. Live upstairs. Got physically active work for part of my income. Even when I'm going through depression cycles I still get exercise, because I made it so I have no choice. Also changed to buying a lot of more healthful groceries, so I can't afford not to eat it. My food cravings shifted over time to match my food buying habits. Good luck to all finding ways that work for you.
I'm all for doing what you need to to get healthy. I must admit though that I take a lot of pride in my au naturale 125 lbs weight loss. There's just something super exciting in it because self control and will power can be very tricky. Grabbing the bull by the horns and knowing I did that feels awesome
You don't have to believe that it's true. You don't understand what food noise is, until you no longer have it. And the only way to do that, is to experience it through this medication. You always hear about someone saying that something was wrong with them, that's because it's true. And you don't have to believe it. But it's true.
Maybe one day you will experience something similar, where you will tell someone the truth, and be excited about the solution you found, and they will tell you they don't believe you. They will tell you they don't believe you had the problem to begin with.
It's like, telling someone with horrible eyesight that they don't need LASIK or glasses.
