The balance of Overwatch has shifted, and we're not talking about gameplay. Overwatch's story is starting to ditch the heroes and is now putting the villains front and center. In this video, we're unpacking Reign of Talon's first chapter "Conquest", and taking a closer look at Overwatch's new villains. And so far, it's looking like the future won’t be decided by who saves it… but by who takes control...

Mauga:

I do this Shi for the love of the game.

I GOTTA see what happens with Mauga at Junkertown, that would probably be real sick as shit

this really needs more attention, this is the most up to date recap, and it's really well put together

For Talon walking away with the super soldier programme, Sierra does get a tracking dart on Talon's aircraft, so Overwatch know where it's going, I'm surprised you didn't cover that, because it seems fairly important for where the story is going to me.

14:02 the funny thing about Domina is that although she lacks artistic sense and vision, she has seemingly a great knack for being a negotiator and diplomat. her profile and her character hint towards that. and those traits could still justify her as being a high ranker position in her company and still ''honour'' its founders family, because every good company also needs people who are good in that department.but the pressure from others and her own perception that she needs to be this grand artist like the other architects is what drives her to fake it so hard.

I want more, neutral, unaligned or self serving characters, rather than straight good and evil.

I appreciate the amount of work that went into this one, keep up the effort!

Heroes can't exist without Villains to struggle against. This blew the lid off and got the party started. Also Fika was Moira's last experiment on the island more than likely. A cat that was being modified using the same techniques Horizon Lunar Colony was using.

I wanna see a year dedicated to null sector next where maybe the 3 heroes next year are all omnics, potentially some null sector members or the former ones. Also Ramattra has god tier lore.

12:50 take that back right now

6:42 correction; widowmaker IS NOT loyal to doomfist, in fact the one who was most loyal to him was surprisingly Reaper, if ou get to read all of the extended media that talks about his backstory. Widows case is complicated, all things point out she left because she was starting to grow back her ''humanity''. also Sombra left not nescessarily because she couldnt get resources from Talon, but because Detta is too much of a psychopath for even her to deal with, and she thinks doing the biddings of someone like her would not be worthy it.

> Says they're not your "typical bad guys".
> Proceeds to list all the typical bad guys tropes.

What did he mean by this?

Tbh I already like how you actually try to dig deep and try to look for character motives and such. Many people get mad with recent character releases and try to act as if newer characters don’t have their own story or complex motivations because they don’t realize that it’s something you need to be actually looking out for and that it’s not always going to be explicitly stated. For example: many people hate on Freja and swear as a character she has no motivations and call her out for being a hypocrite as if the entire point of her story isn’t her trying to find her way after realizing she wants to live for herself, so she’ll obviously be a flawed character who’ll probably change over time. People are free to dislike this, but realistically many characters in the game have been doing the same thing and receive no hate because people only want to acknowledge how good a character is written if they’re an older character.

This makes me wonder how Overwatch bank rolls their side. Talon has some of the most wealthy people in the world backing them. This too echoes the real world. Great recap on all the lore stuff

10:22 goddammit, it’s literally Freja&Garrus and Emre&Shepard

I have a big simple problem with Vendetta : her strory arc is already completed. I mean she was introduced early December 2025 and early February 2026 she achieves her goal, only 2 months after she's set in the story. So now it begs the question : what's next to tell with her ? If now her only thing is being evil and power hungry just for the sake of it then it really falls flat. I really enjoy playing her and her design but I have the feeling Blizzard doesn't know what to do with her now lorewise. That's what happens when you rush a character's story. I hope I'm wrong because she's the reason the story finally progress. If what she said to Sojourn is true then I'm waiting for that.

I think a lot of people are misunderstanding sierras cinematic. We see her strength agaisnt an equal enemy, it shows us her intelligence with her tracking the ship at the end. Maybe the goal was to track the ship instead of securing it like do you really expect her to beat super powered emre plus talon support like freja? No, it would be stupid if sierra won that. Through this sierra is shown as a resourceful, intelligent and capable asset, who doesn't cower when faced with something more powerful than her. I'm not suprised the community are clowning on this, they're just a bit dumb and dont bother to properly read into things.

i feel no simpathy for vendetta, and i really dont get her whole tragic story, when her father was a horrible man, who deserved to die. and yet its treated as a waaah story that they used to make her "power" feel justified, when in reality its really not. her character had so much potential, but it feels like the writer tried to force a sad story into a place where it didnt fit.

imagine if DIO from jojo had a sad story, he kinda does for 2 minutes of the first episode, but then its never brought up again so you can see how much of a psycho he actually is, i just wish she was like that, instead of the sad papa story being brought up again and again and again, we havent even seen them interact enough for it to have effect.
