Free camping isn’t always perfect — but that’s all part of the adventure! 🚐🌿

In this episode, we take you along to three very different free camps that we’d happily stay at again, from beautiful bush settings to simple overnight stops.

Along the way, we’re sharing some of the things we’ve learned from free camping around Australia — choosing a campsite that suits your setup, checking access before taking the van in, thinking about solar and Starlink, using roadside rest areas responsibly, and why sometimes the best decision you can make is to trust your gut and keep moving.

We visit Cann River Rainforest Campground, Bodalla Park Forest Rest Area and Woolbrook Camp Area, and show you what we liked, what we’d do differently, and the little things we consider before deciding where to spend the night.

This episode also brings us to the end of our backlog of travels! 🎉 After our Urban Caravans gathering near Murwillumbah, we took a short break from filming — which means from next week, you’ll be joining us almost in real time as we begin our next adventure west towards Birdsville and hopefully Lake Eyre.

We’re slowing things down, travelling shorter distances and spending longer enjoying each stop... and we’re loving this new way of travelling.
