I feel like people forget about how the missions hold your hand so much. Stray 2 meters away and FAILED The gang was abandoned.

Today's  morons confuse "realism" for "immersion". That is one of the main reasons we keep getting these boring interactive movies.

I played rdr2 for the first time this year and after investing 80 hours of my life and finishing the story I was bored to the point I was questioning if I even like games anymore. Then I played hollow knight again, astro bot, resident evil 2, Jedi survivor and sekiro and I was reminded that I still like games, they just need to be good lol

Thx, i thought im alone with this opinion.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that found the gameplay to be slow. It takes so long getting from one place to another. I wanted to really like this game because of the first one and some reviews. I’m thirty hours in and it feels like a chore to play this game.

Arthur Breathes to close to an NPC

Law: WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE.

Unpopular opinion: I still believe that Red Dead 1 is a better game overall. It may not look as pretty or be as vast of a world, but it scores extra points because it dares to go into another level of uniqueness. A former gang member whom is forced to track down his brothers in arms to save his family from the government is definitely a story we never see in video games very often. Red Dead 2’s story is almost “cliche” in comparison. I also have to give credit to the Mexican Revolution side story during John is in Mexico. That’s gotta be my favorite part of the game, because it too is unique and that you just don’t see stuff like that in very many games. I also like the characters in that game better too, they feel a little bit more well written.

People who call Red Dead Redemption 2 the greatest game of all time are the kinds of people who have played like 4 games their entire lives.  There is a reason why only 30% of people actually finished the main story.

idk why sometimes rockstar makes the most ovverated games there are

Jakey’s review was so on point. If this game was purely open world with minimal hud and really played into the immersion, it would be near perfect. Imagine the time they put into the story was put into many more npc interactions and full interiors; You could go into any building in saint denis. If this game was fully linear with the time put into the open world being in the gameplay, it would definitely be top 3 best games of all time.

It's the first time I bitterly regret buying a game. And I got it on sale.

Red Dead Redemption 1 will always be much darker and better, there's also a Fallout New Vegas that buries RDR2 so harsh.

the game is amazing, but have poor design choices

When I say RDR 2 is a boring slop I get all the fanboys crashing on me…

I agree with almost everything you've said. I still think it's a good game but I have had a lot of trouble trying to get myself to play and finish the game because I feel I was wasting so much time riding horses and what not.

Unpopular opinion: Arthur is an idiot and the world is better off without him.

the missions were unimaginative, it never raise upper gear. i was so disappointed with it.
and the stuff you need to do to get 100% is FUCKING TORTURE. finding a bird you need to hunt but never spawned made me tear my hair out. the single player campaign was a total time sink.
tapping x to speed the horse has caused a sharp pain in my thumb joint that i cant play this as much anymore!
if they made it more concise, with more fun and creative missions, this would have been a good game. 6/10 from me.

It gets better after chapter 3 but the slog to get to chapter 3 is far to long and boring.  Its rated way to highly.  If the same game was made by a another developer with a different title it wouldnt have garnered such a high score.

I was obsessed with this game the first like 3 months i played it, and to be frank it wouldn’t be a horrible inconvenience if i never played it again, looking back.

Really well done review (I mean I finished the game half a year ago and have no idea how I got here). As you said, it really depends on what you're looking for in a game. For some reason this review also really makes me wanna start it over again because I forgot large parts of it (like the Haiti chapter)
