The Lich is was one of the few villians that was never overused. The amount of restraint that takes on behalf of the writers is crazy.

I remember the character sheet for the lich when they were pitching the show, defined by one line, "the Lich is not funny"

@PrimoBambino 1 year ago

"Fall" is easily the hardest line he ever said in the entire show.

Note that the lich had skin on his first appearance, which means he was using someone as a disguise long ago, and never fully got out of said disguise

“You are strong child, but I am beyond strength” &

“I strove to be your vessel on the physical plane. To build mountains of bodies in your honor. To extinguish all life. And in my universe this I achieved. But it gave me no satisfaction. In succeeding, I lost all purpose.”

Two of the baddest lines ever delivered by a villain. One at his perceived peak, the other at his bottom.

I think the best part of the Lich is... He missed the point. He studied Golb, without understanding what Golb is. Golb is destruction- when necessary. Wiping away what was for what comes next. The Lich stands against this: if everything dies, nothing grows. Nothing can come next

I always saw Sweetpea as the Lich and Billy's souls fused together which is why he never fell into complete darkness

0:19 "Villian of the week" would easily make ice king burst into tears how could you

When finn dropped baby lich at tree trunks house, did anyone else notice tree trunks was about to ask Mr pig for a divorce before finn knocked on the door?

@Zadestate 1 year ago

Simon sacrificing himself in that alternate reality so that the lich wasnt created literally made my jaw drop cos it all makes sense, the writing can't be this fire

@cgovey 1 year ago

I want to remind everyone that Pendleton Ward also wrote a whole ass DND adventure about a lich using the unborn fetus of a dead god to achieve power.

@PintoRat 1 year ago

Him becoming another Tetris block seems to allude to the idea that every one of those other blocks were a Lich in another universe who has successfully destroyed all life as well…

As a kid I had this big adventure time comic book and at the end was a double page spread illustration of the Lich and I kid you not I was genuinely terrified of opening that page. Even looking at him made me so uneasy

My favorite part about the Lich is that he was never meant to succeed in his goal as the last scholar of Golb, which is why he faces its wrath at the end of Fionna and Cake. By devoiding universe of all life, he essentially removes chaos from it. That's why the Lich will never get satisfaction from eradicating all life, as his real purpose is to pave the path with never ending chaos for his god, Golb. He is forever a slave of his very nature.

15:53 My theory is the lich was alive at some point, per traditional lich lore, and gained some sort of unfathomable power that corrupted them into something new and evil, which would explain why the life goo turn the lich into a baby.

There's one line that still sticks to me ever since I've heard it.

"What is better - to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?" - Paarthurnax

@dougiepoynterfan01 1 year ago

Got to shout out Ron Perlman for giving Lich his iconic voice, absolutely killed it

@SkinnyEatWorld95 1 year ago

The Lich was always one of my favorites. His design was really cool and he had some very good lines. "The book Finn, give me the book." Still plays in my mind sometimes.
