We never doubted you Seb! Some very odd choices in there and some glaring omissions (whither Jetpac & Bomb Jack for starters!). As always a great video and the usual much needed injection of nostalgia after a tough week in the modern world!

Deathchase - a game where you speed through the forest and shoot at things riding a Honda Bellend.

I've played way more retro games in the intervening years than I ever did during the 80's and 90's. Thanks to emulation, I play all my old faves plus the countless games I could never afford to play or simply passed me by. My main computer in the 80's was a Speccy, but even back then I perhaps played only 150 or so speccy games back in the day, and owned a much smaller number than that. I'm guessing it's pretty-much the same story for most of us who still play these old games. Of the games featured, I'd only played 45 of them, at least as far as I can remember. Another great video mate, and as far as I was concerned your Speccy credentials were never in doubt ;-)

68!!! A bit disappointed (or maybe relieved) that I don't have to tell my daughters I played 67.
Great video, Seb, as always, and I think your point about the massive number of titles back in the day was made clear. Many of the ones I didn't play, I still don't even know about to this day.

I know you did this for fun but you don't have to justify anything. Kids of any era are limited to whatever time and budget they happen to have for games. Your enthusiasm for ZX Spectrum gaming is obvious and you're a a likeable, relatable YouTube personality that covers this stuff 👍

I haven't watched (yet) the full video but.. I watch your channel because I love your content and how you pressent it. Thanks for your time into making these videos,

12:20 I had a soft spot for Design Design (formerly Crystal Computing) as their programming tools had caught my eye even as far back as the ZX81. Their Zeus assembler is still relevant which is not bad for a piece of software that has it's roots in the early 80's. The latest version is Zeus 4 which was revised to take advantage of the Spectrum Next and came out in 2017.

good collection brings back a lot of memories.

I thought I would have done better, but no, a poor 46 for me. Great work on the old nostalgia trip

77 myself and all played back in the day, there was some very bizarre choices in there especially number 3, great video as always

@buffalodebill1976 4 hours ago

Laddie, keep the channel 🙂

BTW this video reminded me of some of the more 'obscure' titles I have had a chance to play on my friend's ZX Spectrum (back in the 80's), as well as bring back very pleasant memories of playing the more 'popular' (aka well-known) ones. Thanks for that 👍

Oh no, counting "back in the day", it's only 54! But can the list be taken seriously without Turbo Esprit?!

@donaldmackerel 4 hours ago

Me at the start: "I've played every Speccy game under the sun."

Me at the end: "44 of those games never existed."

@TheTenthArt 3 hours ago

I grew up with a good ol' Speccy! Played all the gems and all the crap. I love this little beast.

@artooleetoo 4 hours ago

I got 67. All of them from "back in the day'. Thank you for the nostalgia trip, sir. o7
🙂

I dont comment much but love the content Seb. Starting with a Zx81(with a 16k ram pack) then a 48k speccy and finally the 128k, you bring back all those happy memories of getting a tape on a magazine just to get the Out Run theme tune!!! Keep the bangers coming😊

Boulder Dash is a stone cold classic, but thankfully I don't have to be enraged when it is argued on the Wrong Computer. Nope, blood pressure not even moving.

Hey Seb! I just became a member 🥳
The first channel (and so far the only one) I've become a member of.

And I never even owned a Speccy back in the day :)

Thank you for this fantastic channel.

And now it's time to watch the actual video!

Edit: as expected I didn't play any of those games on a Speccy because I didn't have one.

If I include other systems (mainly MSX and C64) the score is a whopping 14.

I played lots of games, just not the ones in the list.

@fattomandeibu 7 hours ago

36 with an asterisk of "On C64" as I never owned a Spectrum.

@stevenray8737 6 hours ago

There was some excellent games for the Spectrum that surprisingly did not make this list; Captain Blood, The Light Corridor, Silkworm, Target Renegade, Castle Master, The Untouchables, New Zealand Story, Bubble Bobble, Leaderboard...too many to mention. I do remember a Top 100 in Your Sinclair and this appears to be the same one and for the time of publication of the issue in question, I played 25 of the listed games. I didn't play Cybernoid, but Cybernoid II: The Revenge, which was pretty much the same game but with new levels, so I'm counting it.

I have little time for "holier than thou" types - even if they might be a hero of mine - but I am impressed when someone is dedicated enough to have learned how to program a Spectrum, in both Basic and Z80 Assembly. Also when someone mentions the 6-part magazine series "The Complete Spectrum"...you have my undivided attention!
