Power BI DAX Tutorial for Beginners (2025): Master DAX in ONE Course!

In Power BI DAX Tutorial for Beginners (2025), Mitchell Pearson introduces DAX as the language that unlocks real analytical power in Power BI and Fabric semantic models. You’ll start by understanding what DAX is used for and how it shows up in day-to-day reporting, then build confidence through hands-on examples that explain the “why” behind the formulas, not just the syntax. Mitchell walks through the core difference between calculated columns and measures, showing how columns help describe data while measures deliver dynamic calculations that respond to filters in your report.

From there, the course builds into the concepts that make DAX click, including row context vs. filter context, how relationships influence results, and why functions like RELATED, RELATEDTABLE, and X functions matter when you’re working across tables. You’ll also learn the foundations of time intelligence, get introduced to the CALCULATE function, and see modern tools like DAX Query View and Copilot features that can accelerate your learning and troubleshooting. By the end, you’ll have a clear mental model for writing DAX that’s accurate, scalable, and ready for real reporting scenarios.

When Mitchell was explaining how to use Copilot and it wasn’t generating good measures, that’s exactly why we need to learn DAX deeply: to be able to recognize whether the measure created is good enough for our purpose or not. Thank you!

This video is absolutely brilliant – thank you so much for sharing such clear and practical DAX fundamentals! I honestly didn’t get this level of explanation even in some paid courses. You’ve made things finally click for me. 🙌

I prefer the higher education method of explanation. Clear explanation and excellent video quality. And most importantly, when you watch the video again, you will discover new things and the idea will be more deeply rooted. Finally, the sword's value is diminished if it is said that the sword is sharper than the stick.
