I’m a freelance author and a lot of the work I get is writing the novels these stories are based off of. The outlines we are given are poorly translated and usually AI generated. My editor and I once had to beg the publisher not to make us write a scene where main character got chained to the outside of a helicopter and dragged around. The majority of the plots center around bullying and it’s the most over the top bullying you’ve ever read in your life. The names are ridiculous, the plots are unbelievable, and it’s difficult to keep up with the twists most of the time, and we’re the one writing it. We’re supposed to keep sentences short and simple because they translate them into several other languages, and I’m positive that they have to make even less sense once they’re translated, but they still end up with hundreds of thousands of reads or more on the platforms where they’re published. Then, they hire script writers to convert them into these short form movies. That’s why it’s so much nonsense, they’ve been translated back and forth countless times, and they didn’t make sense to begin with.
