Not gonna lie was excited to see 2 hours of the dudes pontificate about spells

"willing creatures" means that the clan of squirrels that you befriended are now a mobile tactical hippo unit

Another great aspect of Thorn Whip: nothing is stopping you from making the Verbal component of the spell a nice hearty “GET OVER HERE!”

Goodberry is only 1HP!

I'm playing a Stars Druid (level 8 currently) and I did not expect to have this much fun and versatility playing this class.

I love how Monty has a thousand yard stare with some of these spells, that's how you know it's a good spell.

Forgot Guidance lol

Almost two hours discussing DRUID SPELLS?!?!? Most underrated spell list btw for the least popular class. This is amazing 😍

Completely agree about how good Speak With Animals is, but it isn't a pick. All Druids always have it prepared now from Druidic.

1:03 IT'S SO FUNNY to see how enthusiastically he says "ya, ya." Even though you two must have talked about it for hours beforehand, it really came from the heart.  XD

Druids are the most complicated class in the game, by far.

I absolutely love the options you get, but it's super overwhelming for some players (and you really have to find out what your role is in the group). You can bring people back to life, control the battlefield/environment, turn into animals and be a tank, you name it. Your spells are basically a combination of Wizard and Cleric.

Thanks for posting this Dudes! I can't wait to check this out.

Worth noting Thorn Whip is "up to 10 feet" so you can just pick 0 or 5 to not pull the target the full 10 feet if you don't want the target getting too close. Very fun spell if your DM is a big fan of using environmental combat and having various hazards across a battlefield, or even enemies being up high on ledges that they can be pulled down from.
Speak with Animals is probably my fav spell in 5e, you get it immediately and i love the fact it can creates roleplay opportunities where normally none would exist, and it's great if your doing some kind of investigation in town and the party splits up to investigate various aspects and the Druid can just walk up to the flock of pigeons or the murder of crows that are watching everything in town and question them, or down into the sewers and question the rats if anything else is moving down here, or go classic elder scrolls and get the chicken to report a crime they saw.

The biggest downside of the new Conjure Animals is that if the enemy succeeds on the save they take no damage at all.

Speak With Animals is Top Tier! In Rime of the Frostmaiden, the rats were always aware of the Duergar tunnelers beneath the city. They knew where things were hidden in cellars and enemies ignored them. Also when you don’t have a familiar a flock of birds you befriend can fly and scout for you. Talking to an NOC’s mount to get a sense of where that NPC has been, or stealing mounts from enemies, leaving them stranded and unable to haul their supplies is awesome. They become locked down and to haul their goods encumbers them.

In my heart of hearts, Befuddlement will always be called Feeblemind

I played a moon druid through till level 20 in the 2014 rules, and using conjure animals made it easily the most powerful character in our game, and we had a wizard in the group. The sheer versatility and problem solving with the spells but also wild shapes was ridiculous. And the craziest thing is it’s a class so often overlooked.
But I will say being able to pick new spells every single day, as well as being able to pick whatever beast stat block you wanted to back then as well, made it extremely complex to play by sheer overload of choices. I loved that aspect, but it’s not for everyone.
As for spells, the hardest thing was that most of the great ones were concentration, and so you had to pick a bunch of substandard spells that were non concentration to be able to even possibly use up your spell slots for the day

Conjure animals damage is all or nothing.
Not save for 1/2.

Fantastic discussion of the Druid spell list. Thank you.

Circle Of Stars Druid is my favorite subclass.

15:20 Actually, in 5.5, Animal Handling is listed as one of the skills you may use as part of the Influence action, along with the Charisma skills. So, I think there's definitely a solid RAW argument for that house rule. I'd certainly allow it in my games.

Worth noting that Firestorm does NOT say they must be a contiguous snake, just that each cube must connect to at least one other cube(so gaps can exist, you could do several 20x10 areas
