Robin's video: SHE BUTCHERED MY VIDEO TO FIT HER NARRATIVE AND SELL FAT LIBERATION: https://youtu.be/09J3-OLrOwY?si=1SK4rIGDtXPCN4IZ

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING MY BACK BESTIE.

Her purposely making weight loss seem super complicated made me unreasonably angry

Watching this video from Ukraine... I am so invested in first world problems lol (like "fat liberation"??? LIBERATION??? what? omg...)

One thing I’ve noticed—and really appreciate—about the Anti-Fat Acceptance group is that you guys show the WHOLE videos and actually talk about what happened ( I know because as a viewer I am sitting through the video with you and my blood boils lol ) . You don’t edit things to fit a narrative, and you genuinely try to understand the situation from all sides.

What Rachel did to Robin was wrong on so many levels. It felt like she wanted to play the victim rather than actually listen to what Robin was trying to say. UGH! 😩

Rachel Milner is clearly deeply unwell, mentally and physically. It is very concerning  to me as a mental health professional that she is treating vulnerable eating disorder patients.

My favorite thing about her vid is clipping it to high hell and then being like "please dont watch the whole video in context!!1!"

Nothing lends credibility to an argument like clipping the person you’re criticizing to make them look as bad as possible

I think too many people rely on education to be trump card when spreading misinformation. Many anti science movements started with Doctors and Nurses. If anything it has shown us that many uneducated people will listen to the words of snake oil salesperson if they have the credentials

This is the problem with people accepting victim status. They live in a learned helplessness state. Nothing is your fault but because of this there is nothing they can do to change their circumstances.

No matter what you do you will not make them happy.

These "therapists" in this "fat liberation" "movement" make me so very angry, on both a personal and professional level.  Using your profession to promote and reenforce  your own delusions and  problems is so beyond unethical.  Her smug and patronizing tone also infuriates me. This person really needs to find another profession.

The point she made about not making friends based on body size but how they show up as friends - ok sure, I think that's basically true HOWEVER, the caveat is that there may be some friends that you can't do activities with because they struggle with basic activities. It doesn't mean you can't be friends with them or they're bad people but that you will probably want to do specific things with people with at least a similar fitness level.

Also, I've had a fat friend in the past who was always trying to get the friend group to eat more junk and if you tried to order something even remotely healthy at a dinner, she'd turn it into a whole thing "oh, you're on a diet/why are you ordering bird food/that looks disgusting/etc". They're not always these sweet supportive people.

My partner told me that he noticed I gained a TON of weight over like a 6 month period. He didn't tell me he lost attraction to me, but he did tell me he was less attracted to me when I got heavier, and also he was worried about the mental health that caused the extreme gain. We had to work on that, and he kept me accountable because me working on my weight was also me working on our relationship.

It's been two years, I haven't lost all the weight yet but our partnership is stronger for all our communication and honesty.

Also he bought me three 18-packs of Witch's Brew when I asked him to pick one up from Costco, so I know he loves me very much.

I'm going through this long COVID thing where I have essentially sleep apnea when I'm awake and it SUCKS. I was getting lightheaded just because I couldn't take full breaths. I can't imagine living like that all the time and insisting nothing is wrong.

Peloton has a fat instructor already💪🏼 her name is Ash and she does the Row. I think another reason why there isn't a larger instructor on the bike is there's a weight limit on the bike, it's 297 lbs. Which you think she'd know if she's using the peloton a lot but maybe not. I just crossed over the 2000 work out mark with Peloton!

Fat Liberation made me realize i need to lose weight because i saw them as my size and saw how they deteriorated i was like fuck no like i wasn’t happy about being that weight but yeah i was like fuck no when i saw other people riding in scooters or needing a cane or having any type of health issues and i didn’t realize i was that close until i saw the fat liberation movement i have since lost 100+ lbs

Imagine being in a “miss the point” competition against SunnySideUpGal

ive already watched robin and alex’s videos on this but yes i will also watch miss angelycas because its honestly just as shocking each time how much this “doctor” clips shit out of context

This doctor is acting as if the stigma against heaviness is the causal factor for the many diseases found in obese populations.

But that assertion doesn’t hold up to scrutiny, because there are cultures that practice intentional weight gain as a practice prior to courtship. Entire nations- the Tuareg, some pockets of Ugandan, Mauritius, Niger, and Sudan enforce female weight gain before marriage. It is highly prized, sought after, and praised when women are heavier than average, especially compared to men their age.

And yet those young women still suffer. Cardiovascular diseases, fertility and pregnancy complications, cancer, and greater susceptibility to infections. Sadly, these women are also more susceptible to abuse and struggle more to escape violent situations, or accidents.

So even in the most extreme pro-fat parts of the world, women are mistreated, are sicker, and die of illnesses commonly found in the fat phobic west.

So which is it? Are “stigmatizing” agents like doctors, activists, and commentators like Robin harmful? Or is there something else at play? Could it be that living with an excess of body fat is inherently dangerous, just like living with extremely low body fat? Does anyone care to look and take a measured, moderate look at facts anymore?

31:47 I have never used ‘fat’ to replace ‘fear’ or ‘sadness.’ Discomfort maybe because I “feel fat” when I’m bloated or eat too much at once. It’s a physical feeling of discomfort, not an emotional one. I think she need to deconstruct why she thinks fat equates to fear and sadness because she does not seem happy. (Btw, I’m currently class 1 obese, so I am objectively fat but can still “feel fat”)

32:11  therapy is not a place to deconstruct social beliefs lmao if I went to a therapist to talk about my body dismorphia and they told me I only had that mental illness because I hate fat people, I would spiral even more than I did when I crossed this rhetoric while in fat acceptance. I also was more depressed when I was in the community because of how hateful the community is towards people with certain mental illnesses. It made my moral scrupulosity ocd so much worse because of these mental gymnastics. I’m so thankful for my two exceptional therapists and people like you who make this content. Thank you.
