In the NHL playoffs, overtime goes until someone scores. There is no shootout in the playoffs. Each overtime period is a standard 20 minutes long.

a 42 year old zamboni driver is wild enough, the fact that he worked for the Leafs and beat them is just insane, sometimes reality is just stranger than fiction.

The fan that fell into the penalty box and found himself in a scrap with Tie Domi is Chris Falcone. When it was all said and done, no charges were pressed and Domi actually took him out for dinner a little bit after the incident. Domi also mentions it in his book Shift Work, which is a great read and I highly recommend it.

9:43 during the Regular Season if you don't score in OT it goes to Penalty Shots. During the Play-offs it changes to Continuous Overtime, meaning if no one scores in OT, ten another OT Period is play and that keeps going until someone scores.

The guy that made that video left out a lot of important context to several of those videos.

That ref getting punched, is EXACTLY why they “let them fight”

The point to drafting the player that didn't exist was to call out that the NHL draft was far too long and the kids taken towards the end were basically being given false hope as they had basically no chance to make the NHL. The NHL draft has since been shortened to 7 rounds.

In the regular season, it is one 5 minute 3 on 3 overtime, then shootout. But playoffs, it’s continuous overtime until someone scores.

The John Scott All Star thing started as a prank, but in a weird twist it actually became kind of a heart warming thing where the fans were celebrating the underdogs and the unsung heroes of the NHL...and of course Gary Bettmen had tried to spoil it at every step even tho it was fantastic PR for hockey.

Calling out Steve Dangle's banshee screams made the video for me 🤣

Edit: Patrik Stefan's career was effectively over after missing that empty-netter. Also, he's a former first overall pick.

I watched the Domi fight live on TV when i was a kid. I remember hollering to the adults in the other room "HEY DOMI IS FIGHTING", "yeah what else is new?" they asked. "But he's fighting a fan in the penalty box..." They all came running in to the room just as the glass gave way and they started pounding eachother. The room was silent, but to this day, somewhere in the space time continuum you can hear someone mutter *holy sh$t!..."

Believe it or not, the empty net goal Patrik Stefan missed caused Chicago to gain the 1st overall pick that year. Which ultimately led to Patrick Kane going to Chicago 1st overall..

When the glass breaks the game is stopped, the glass is replaced (it usually only takes a few minutes) and then the game continues.

In the NHL unless things have changed recently, if the glass gets broken its an immediate stoppage of play and they clean up the glass and replace the panel before play is resumed.

The John Scott All Star thing started as a joke but people rallied behind it as a sort of thank you to all the players like him.  Who's careers were protecting stars and taking punches.

It happened a couple years after multiple popular enforcers took their own lives or died from health related issues from a career of getting their heads rocked for no credit.

If a goalie does that while youre skating through the crease, the blue ice, the refs will usually allow it as long as its not like a stick to the head.

Regular season: 5 minute 3v3 overtime, then shootout.
Playoffs: 20 minute 5v5 overtimes until someone scores

The arena staff replace the glass panel within minutes, it's incredible to see how quick they do it

They missed two. When the Bruins players climbed into the stands and Mike Milbury was bashing a guy with a shoe and in Jan. 1976 when the Russians left the ice, because it was too rough for them, against the Flyers.
