The Matt Cooke on Marc Savard injury basically ended Savard's career and damaged his private life for about ten years. The Vancouver Aaron Rome hit on Nathan Horton completely derailed Horton's career and he was never the same.

There are 82 games in a season so being suspended for 41 games is being suspended for half the season

1:52 When a player gets knocked down like that, and his arms are straight up in the air, you know he's not conscious.

7:15 by the time this play occurred, virtually all of Cooke's super dirty plays were already made so nobody felt bad for him. If anything, I think most of the hockey world was just annoyed that Keith didn't lean into it a bit more. Would have been poetic justice for Cooke's career to end from a dirty hit.

1)  At 4:18, Dale Hunter received a suspension of 21 games, one-quarter of a season.  I believe it was the first suspension that long.
2)  At 5:27, Max Pacioretty suffered a broken vertebra in his neck and a severe concussion.  Thankfully, he is still playing at an elite level for part of this season.
3)  At 9:31, that's current Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron lying on the ice after suffering a concussion in 2007.  At age 36, he is still regarded as the best "two-way" center in the NHL, meaning that he plays excellent defense in addition to scoring goals.
4)  At 10:19, it was the second player in white, Nazem Kadri, who delivered the hit which led to a suspension.
5)  At 10:36, that's Scott Stevens knocking Paul Kariya unconscious with a hit to the head.  It was both legal and dirty.  Now it's illegal and will get a player suspended.
6)  I would say the last hit with no fans in the building was definitely dirty, but not the worst we see.  He was just frustrated that his team lost, which is like a child throwing a tantrum.

2:03 Lemieux also refused to apologize to Kris Draper publicly or even privately, which made the Red Wings's anger fester even more

Good 'ole Raffi Torres.  One of the most notorious headhunters in NHL history.  He injured many.  41 games is half a season.

It’s so cool seeing Adam’s progress with understanding the sport. The way he knows Wilson and Domi is awesome!!

You should watch the bruins Shawn Thornton beat the socks off Matt Cooke the very next game they played the penguins. Thornton wasn’t a big guy but he was ready to go to war for his team and he made Matt Cooke pay

At 2:35 you ask if there’s any serious injuries. The hit that’s being shown at that time stamp as you ask was a career ending concussion.

1:56 Nathan Horton was an extraordinary player, he was never the same after this hit. He came back and tried to play but this was the hit that destroyed him physically.

Still miss his presence on the ice with the black & gold 🤍🤍

2:44 same goes for Marc Savard. Never recovered and this was a devastating injury. This hit changed things with the concussion protocols, and the Bruins organization learned from this incident (they rushed savard back to playing, where he sustained another concussion that was the true  nail in the coffin for Savard.. but it did help us to learn more about concussions and the devastation they cause)

The hit at 5:35 changed how the glass and beams around the benches are.

The lemiuex hit on hit on Draper led to one of the best hockey brawls in history the following year. Look up Colorado vs Detroit brawl.  Watch Darren McCarty get massive revenge.

2:19 That was the hit that started the downhill spiral to The Brawl in Hockeytown. Lemieux never apologized for the hit and basically got a slap on the wrist in punishment.

There is 82 games in a season so 41 games is exactly half the season.

As dirty as bure’s hit was, I don’t blame him. He was getting cheap shotted all game, refs were watching all of them, and nothing was called. Probably the best example in NHL history of the refs losing control of the game

2:12 Claude Limeux hit on Kris Draper. Draper suffered a fractured skull and missed around a season. This incident is the most prominent in a whole string of things that culminated in the Infamous March 26 97 Brawl at the Joe that you reacted to before.

Currently there are 82 games in a season at one point there was 84 fun fact a couple players have played 86 games in a season due to being traded to a team that had more games left in the season

That Chara hit on Pacioretty makes me wince every single time. I mean I still to this day cannot believe he didn’t break his neck and die on the spot with that hit to the turnbuckle like that
