For the first time in three years, I've been waiting for the road to open, hoping to climb the Asahi Mountain Range from Niigata Prefecture's only trailhead, the Sanmenguchi.
I've been waiting for two years.
No matter how long I waited, there was no news of the road opening,
I called, but they told me the conditions were not ideal, and that walking was not an option...
So, sorry, I decided to try the Sanmen route from Higurashizawa.
If things continue like this, the Sanmen route will return to primeval forest.
Will it become inaccessible forever?
It's like a capillary in a human blood vessel.
It breaks my heart to see Japan's rural areas becoming clogged everywhere.
So, prepared to hack through some bushwhacking, I set off, fully equipped, tent in hand.
Watching the heat and bears, I'll challenge my old man's limits to see how far I can go. However, I won't push myself too hard, so I won't be walking at night.
The first part is a leisurely journey from Higurashizawa to Sagamiike Pond, the foothills of Mt. Sagami, via Mt. Samue. Enjoy it on a big screen, like a TV. I also enjoy watching it on TV. I've watched it about three times.
